  1. ah wondered if that was the case. Mate of mine uses him for general servicing.
  2. hmm, who is it building it?
  3. The small eco engines aren't that eco from what i gather, have the thrape fook out of them to get them to go. a 3 series petrol beemer or v50 volvo (not diesel obviously hahah) that will just munch miles and be comfortable will prob do the job. 32mpg https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/bmw/e46-3-series-98-06/bmw-3-series-e46-320ci-se-2002/5951232 43mpg https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volkswagen/golf-mk5-mk6/2005-05-volkswagen-golf-1-4-s-fsi-5d-89-bhp/7087419
  4. WHo ever said do the crank bearings as well is absolutely bang on, Mate found out the hard way. Was the block not skimmed before being built?
  5. As said it's all about perception, yes it's limted numbers, but given its a uk turbo with a paint job it's not that special in my eye's, but thats my perception of it, bit like the WR1. It's only gonna go up in value so if you don't need to sell it keep it anyway
  6. on an impreza you can fairly easily access the cam sensor and just unclip the connector to it, my guess is the forrester is similar. I'd do that and crank it for 10 seconds to make sure oil pressure is good, then reconnect and fire it up. 6 weeks shouldn't be too much of an issue though in truth. It may be a bit grumbly till it warms up and might be worth just restarting the engine when its warm but other than that should be fine.
  7. get it to a decent specialist and get it on a dyno to find out exactly whats going on.
  8. With it being 2.5 i'd get a sniff test done asap and go from there. may well not be headgasket, but its a cheap test as a start point before you go chasing things round the engine bay.
  9. I wouldn't have another diesel if someone paid me. Gonna get taxed to oblivion going forward
  10. It's one fo those cars that is all over, its basicly a uk turbo with a paint job and few extra bits bolted on. so depends how the buyer perceives it
  11. 5k if in top nick at a guess, but its only worth what someone will pay, maybe more than that, maybe less.
  12. Modine is an oil to water heat exchanger. I would suspect the water side has a leak, or did if its not fresh. The green could just be the antifreeze adative in the coolant dried up. Thats all a guess but seems logical
  13. I deny to know anything,,,, hahaha no bother, always good to understand why things are what they are. As sandals says, not an MOT failure. I think only exception is when it gets mega bad and you get jagged edges sticking out, not even 100% sure if that is a fail though to be fair.
  14. Cos it needs alot of work. Arches are shot, they go fromt he inside out so when you see it on the outside its gonna be a big repair. 136k is alot of miles so expect some mechanical issues as well, doesnt work out cheap im afraid. Cheap car = needs work 99.9% of times.
  15. welcome
  16. a 2005 wrx at 2k will be an absolute dog, i would expect double that at around 4k. then to get it to a reliable 300, your prob around the 2k mark on top. Boost gauge isnt really needed.
  17. i'll drop him a line
  18. Welcome. First thing to consider is budget. How much you looking to spend in the car and to get it to the power level you want?
  19. Yeah be long gone. Anyone know if the Sti and wrx are the same fitment on a hawk?
  20. glad its sorted chap.
  21. hahaha :D
  22. Tidgy

    type R

haha yeah :) you'll have to pop in for a brew sometime if I'm home, normaly at work of course around that time though
  23. It's just a cable, so could have gone boot end. as far as not working ont he key as well sounds like maybe the latch is playing up? do they still have a gap into the the boot in the center seat?
  24. ah, i do like a consensus :)
