  1. I toyed with that idea reviews said they were a really good pulling engine but they were asking 2k more for diesel and I like the smell of petrol haha
  2. Think it was £265
  3. Then a non turbo would be a big improvement. 35-40mpg motorway. 30or so on back roads or general traffic.
  4. At the time the running costs and insurance weighed in too heavily. After that I realised the costs are actually similar, but foot down on boost the mpg is not existent atleast the non turbo could be kicked into life without completely draining your wallet. If my hatch had a turbo god himself couldn't take it from me. Always had the plan as a stepping stone which now it has been but I would recommend them strongly to anyone. They are definitely not slow as would think. Normal driving found about 5mpg different. But giving it anything more than 1 toe the non turbo only drops a few mpg but the turbo drains the tank like emptying a bath lol. Tax is similar model depending.
  5. Apart from me then :D wanted a solid reliable car and got that with the 2.0 rx hatch. Because of how good I found it it's kept me on Subaru now likely for life. The handling is just superb in every condition. Only selling mine because not driving to London regularly now and found a classic. Otherwise I wouldn't part with it. Surprisingly good the non turbos
  6. Had a pipercross in the rx for a year, it did have the odd bit of dust or gravel in it but nothing came through to the mesh side. But I did have a lot more crap in the bottom of the air box itself and the resonator box underneath whereas the standard filter just clung onto everything
  7. Give import car parts a try, sorted everything I have needed for my classic so far
  8. Id have thought so too but they gave me a choice of which car the no claims would go on so 1 had 7year the other 0. So never took it out
  9. Had this recently ended up putting temp cover on the classic. Couldn't get my head round no claims only count on one car, both won't be driven at same time obviously so not likely to be putting a claim in for both cars in an accident
  10. 1 bar bushes fitted. Might have to do a rebuild thread at this rate
  11. They weren't happy lol until they realised they got to sleep in bed, nowt like 2 bulldogs snoring in your face for a good nights sleep.... the rests getting done in the garage haha strong fumes off that stuff
  12. Did some zinc priming in the house :D not in the good books right now
  13. Lmao that reg is fantastic
  14. Stuck some mishimoto ones on my rx, think they were about £70 for top and bottom hose. Tight fit seem a good quality piece, have only had them on about a year but no leaks or problems.
  15. Diff lowered, Subframe, back bumper and back box removed.
  16. Got the rest back now so they can live. Was in their interests as got a lot more parts for them to blast for me.
  17. Meguiars gold class carnabau liquid wax is one I like but seems to be disappearing from Halfords atleast sadly. Turtle wax wash and wax was in home bargains for couple quid, wasn't that bad tbh water beaded up canny well and takes nothing to give a quick wipe over
  18. That would make their passing too quick
  19. Got links and roll bar etc back from blasting, 2 bits missing. Working out which body part to take off the guy first
  20. Boot lid seal or hole in boot floor? Wouldn't put it past them to read this, nosey gits
  21. Was gonna remap my rx but the estimated gains were about 14bhp and not much more in torque so never bothered. strut braces alone stiffened up the ride on sharp corners. Good tyres bigger roll bars and harder bushes was the plan
  22. alright mate Do the shocks come with springs or is it just the strut?
  23. Champion that's exactly what I was looking for thanks Every other bolt on the back end was seized and rusted , I'll get bertha (my 24inch bar) on it, she's got everything else off so far, only rear suspension parts on the car currently are the strut and springs. nows the time to be investing in penetrating fluid, using it by the gallon
  24. Thanks need all the luck I can get haha everything is seized or rusted up, lateral links and trailing arms are away getting sand blasted was hoping to get subframe done too as it ain't looking too clever. Problem looks like the 2 studs on back of the diff go too far through the frame to wiggle it round without frame hitting the driveshafts. Looks like diffs coming off. Not doing too bad considering never worked on cars much bar the odd servicing
  25. Afternoon, hoping to get a solid answer here as nowhere else has been much help. Just wanting to know if I can remove the bolts holding the diff to the subframe and lower the diff on a jack leaving the driveshafts in place to unbolt the subframe and just slide it out over the top of the diff. Suspension links etc are currently off the car so figured good time to check out the rust and bushes on the frame. Can't find any removal guides either sadly thanks
