  1. My sisters car has four different makes of tyre, she's not a car nut and doesn't care. It's a crappy 1.6 P reg Golf L. It's like being in a boat with the body roll when it goes round corners so grip isn't an issue its too scary trying to boot it. Back to the OP. I'd do axels at minimum but would prefer to do all four at once.
  2. Just the usual stuff. When looking at any car. Make sure it has a full service history. For the age the car it shouldn't have any issues, bushes and bearings etc would be fine unless extremely high mileage. Same with suspension gearbox etc. I don't have any issues with my 08 and haven't had to do anything except regular maintainence, I have replaced the tyres as they were worn when I got it. And the wiper blades. That's it. Pretty sure Salsa and Jay will pop along and share the ownership experiences. Might be worth posting the ad here so we can have a gander. There are basicly 2 versions of the Hatch STI. Type UK. The "standard STI" 290 bhp 17" wheels. There was an option for a Prodrive performance pack which changed the exhaust back box and centre section plus a remap to 330bhp. A few of these came with 5 spoke 18" alloys 330s: same as the Type UK. 330 bhp. 18" alloys, Recaro seats, factory Sat Nav, electronic push button start. There prob a few things I've missed off though, I'm sure someone will point out my errors :)
  3. Yeah but how many security issues and how much data mining is in Windows 10?
  4. Welcome along, is this the 1st club you've joined, or been involved in anything local?
  5. They are setting the order up and I'll say pay me when they are ready and I'll send it all to who ever is organizing it. Alternatively you could put your name down on Surrey Scoobies and get them direct. http://www.surreyscoobies.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=49948&page=2

  9. Yeah that's what made it fun for me, I wasn't always at the back due to not knowing what I was doing with the set ups. Always seemed to have power over handling as I could never figure out the suspension tunning.
  10. I'm in, I'll just be there to add the obligatory moving road block.
  11. they changed the way the fit the grills on later cars. on my 08 the grill is screwed into the bumper from underneath. 2 options to remove: remove all the poppers on the grill, remove under tray and reach up to get at the fiddley screws to remove grill. Easier way is too remove the whole bumper sounds drastic, but modern bumpers are designed to be removed by one person so it pretty easy. There are a few more poppers same as the grill on the top. 4 pop out screws on each wheel arch as well as a funny one at the top ( push the middle bit in and the fixing pops out) 4 poppers under the front lip hold the under tray on. when all poppers are off, I think its 14 in total. grab the tailing edge of the front bumper and pop it out along the shut line. Salsa king has posted a good idiots guide. Hope it helps. http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/8194-fitting-hella-tones-2008-on-idiots-guide/?hl=%2Bhella+%2Bhorns#entry48682
  12. Congratulations on the pirchase, I'm sure you'll love it. There's a thread with owners of new sti's disccusinng remaping and warranties prob worth checking out. I've looked but can't find it so maybe starting a new thread might be an idea?
  13. I pefer manual gears these days, I say start by continuing with the same as last year and tweet as we go if needed. Traction and stability would prob be needed for F1 ect
  14. Gambit set them up last year and through testing we managed to get all the models really close performance wise, but totally different to drive. It made for some great close racing with loads of overtaking and battles all over the field.
  15. Cool was just editing post when you posted.
  16. I reckon do what we did last year with the Set ups downloaded. We know from experience it's too unbalanced to allow uncontrolled tuning even with in a class, performance varies far too much. Plus there are a few of us not that great at setting up a fast car. If we all work from the same stable of cars, with the same mods, allowing the basic tunning options, ride height, brake bias ect and with the differences in performance between of model it still makes it a great race.
  17. They are a great addition to the tool box, just don't use them where a lot of torque is required. Also Ideal for downpipe bolts :)
  18. Ratchet Spanners are a god send for doing Scooby spark plugs. thinner than a ratchet so easier to get between the inner wing and Cylinder head. Mine also came with a qtr inch adapter for sockets http://www.halfords.com/motoring/garage-equipment/tool-kits/halfords-advanced-professional-9-piece--ratchet-spanner-set
  19. Welcome along, are you collecting from the outer Hebredies? That's an epic drive! :)
  20. Had some wiper blades delivered was going to fit them but it's raining
  21. Welcome along, If you are SW London, Surrey Scoobies might be a better bet.
