It's Monthly Meet time again! As ever, it's at The Fairmile in Cobham. Sunday 9th November from 1pm. Also the Pistonheads Sunday service at Mercedes Benz world Brooklands is on the same day. Handily the Pistonheads meet runs from 9am-1pm. Go to the Pistonheads then head for the monthly meet. Members are more than welcome to come down in non-Jap cars (or bring friends) but please, Japanese only parked on the grass (there is a second car park to the rear of the Fairmile if you don't want to park in the main area).

Did you put the anti freeze in the long necked yellow cap on the right hand side of the engine that says coolant? Yellow arrow on Pic. If so its just the over flow for the system, there is no return to the system from here. when I 1st got my classic scoob I thought this was for topping up the coolant and spent ages trying to fill the system up from here :)

Be sure to check the inner wing, behind the boot liner. I had about 2" of water sitting there.

Thing is you can get a WRX plate from £400, unless the 1st part of the reg is unique I doubt you'd get much for it. I had M77 WRX scrapped it with the car as no one was Intested in it.

Check for leaks around the spoiler fixing points, if you can jump in the boot with a torch and get a helper to spray the hose over the boot area. Check for water ingress from the inside.

Spot on that's exactly what I did, then if you want to use the hole you can gaffa tape the cable to the coat hanger and pull it back through. I think they come through above the level of the pedals, may have to fold the carpet down to get to it, cant remember it was so long ago :)

Look from the engine bay there is a hole/grommet you can use by the brake servo, I used this on my classic for a few gauges, it comes out by the pedals. On my New Age I used the main cable you are talking about, it is possible to use but you'll have to make a hole in the rubber and reseal it with some goo. I used bicycle puncture repair kit. I pushed a piece of thick gauge wire through and then attached the wires I wanted to feed through and pulled it into the engine bay that way.

Not too sure on the front, grill seems a bit too black if you get me. Think the top of the grill below the bonnet needs to be a different colour.

Who looked at it and who are you takeing it too out of intrest? Just your local to me and I always use Surrey based companies.

I'm not saying the washable ones are bad, just that there are down sides to them. As the Cossie one has in having to replace it. They both have their pros and cons. The maff issue is more prevalent on the classics. Due to the maffs age, they are a weak spot on the classics. New age won't be much of an issue till later in the cars life.

The Cossie is not washable as its got a much finer weave than piper cross so does a better filtering job. Bear in mind you have spray a coating of light oil onto the washable ones so they trap the fine particles, overtime this oil will work its way through the induction system having coated the maff sensor on its way. Obviously this isn't over night it take a long time to build up. Horses for Courses at the end of the day.

To be honest if you are losing it in the damp/wet on roundabouts, I'd be more inclined to say it's down to the right foot (hooning it) than the tyres :p

Pin hole in the radiator. I had more or less the same problem, on my classic spent months chasing non existent airlocks, replaced hoses, had a sniff test kit ready just in case. It was eventually traced to a minute hole in the radiator. Fitted a new rad and that fixed it.

Not much more to add tbh, just make sure the service history is comprehensive. and make sure you have decent duration test drive.

It says to replace at normal service intervals.

It took me two tries to do mine, but that's because I used a heat gun the first time which is far too aggressive. Second time used a hairdryer and it worked like a dream, start with the smaller lens 1st so you can get used to how it works and you'll be fine :)
