  1. Just watched the whole thing and I am in awe, things that stick out, Kerbs it's so narrow. Bumps, he uses the bumps to set the car up for corners and his knowledge is of the course is unbelievable. I don't know my own road that well. It's a standard car, apart from suspension and mapping. Overall speed, it's 80% flat out. Looks harder than the Ring!
  2. Been mulling over a DA for awhile, now but as you say it's a minefield when it comes to DA pads and polishes. I think my next buy will be a 6mx3m pop up gazebo ala dent man tent so I can do work on the car when the weather is too hot or raining. £89.00 from argos. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6510745.htm
  3. My mates 08 Type UK had the same 17" wheels as Gary's weren't the 18" an option?
  4. Silver is prob the best at masking dirt, then looking amazing when it's clean as you never think it's that dirty :D
  5. Re the power steering pump. Mine had a leak and it was a cheap easy fix as it was a rubber o ring on the bottom of the pump where it sits in the block. Workshop manual download http://ken-gilbert.com/impreza-manuals It's really handy to have even though it's not comprehensive.
  6. Looks good. Out of interest what DA where you using? You'd think white would show the dirt worse than black :( I washed mine last weekend and it looks a state already :(
  7. Nice one Gary from Nottingham :) Glad your pleased with it. As other have said get the map check out by some one like Jolly Green Monster or Andy Forrest, two of the best in the scooby world. Then get yourself down to Jap Fest 2 on the club stand, felt a bit lonely being the only hatch. Essential reading: Explains all about the centre diff and the I-Drive http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/4392-i-drive-dccd-explained/ Any plans for mods? I've just gone cosmetic myself rather than power. No where near as far as Salsa King though :) Wheels are a must, those 17" weigh a ton and are too plain, you can liven up the steering with a set of lighter wheels. If you want to change the look of the car two things I would do is swap out the rear fog light for a clear version and maybe get the red overlays for the rear lights from Salsa King.
  8. Good write up. How much was the spoiler including any duty and taxes?
  9. Check out this thread explains all about i drive and the diff settings. http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/4392-i-drive-dccd-explained/
  10. Bear in mind 2.5's are in a high group 35-40's, did you not get quotes before you bought?
  11. Was well chuffed to get a clean fast laps on Catalunya in class C using a 22b, neat you by a 2nd :p
  12. 0 feed back so it's a new account, why not use the original one?
  13. Yeah you can be clean all the way and a drivatar nudges you that the clean lap gone. They should include runoff areas that don't invalidate a lap and penalise for chicane and major corner cutting. Putting 2 wheels on the grass as you overtake or run a bit wide shouldn't kill the lap. Mind you we were saying the same about 4 :)
  14. Good find, need to add £200 to re spray the wheels though :)
  15. One thing I have found with 5 is the that the drivatars are a real pain on the 1st lap and friends are especially aggressive. As soon as you get past them into the lead then it's easy to pull out a massive gap. There's always one car that stays in-touch, the rest just fall away. Doesn't really seem to matter what difficulty level they are set to its always the same. Admittedly I haven't set it on the top level but I can easily beat professional if you don't get punted off on the 1st lap. My only other gripe is the level of damage on simulation. Even if you run in to the back of someone with the lightest of touches then thats your suspension, brakes, possibly drivetrain all damaged. So you end up counter steering the damage for the rest of the race. That for me is a bit overzealous. I just restart the race anyway. I reckon I restart at least 3 or 4 times each race.
  16. Welcome Along, Bit far to come to our meet for you :)
  17. Best bet is to pop into a local dealers for the part number. I've never found any details/lists for part numbers on the net. Always get intouch with my local dealer.
  18. Rally blue in wales http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-wrx/subaru-impreza-wrx/2391900 Black but it's in Ireland again. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-wrx/2008-2-5-impreza-wrx-hatchback/2422655
  19. Gave the car a quick wash. Autosol metal polish R202 Total auto wash (engine degreaser) 303 aerospace protectant (makes engine bay all shiny) Bilt Hamber auto-wheel cleaner Bilt Hamber autofoam Autoglym Shampoo conditioner, super resin polish, extra gloss protection, instant tyre dressing Intensive tar remover. Poorboys Black hole glaze Poorboys Natty's paste wax (use on my car) Mer Glass cleaner G3 scratch remover G3 SuperGloss Paste Wax (use on family cars) Meguiar's quick detailer and clay bar Halfords 240v car polisher Not in the pic is a mechanics stool with wheels on as I'm lazy and don't want to bend down all the time to reach the lower parts of the car :D luckily none of our cars have that horrible Matt black bumper or trim stuff on them so need trim gel :)
