Gt86 as the reasonably fast car
Sooo didn't even know there was a new top gear out! Half way through watching it, how similar is the GT86 to the BRZ? Would have been better without any driver aids for top gear, but why didn't they go for the Subaru instead of Toyota? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

UEL sport special
Probably to not completely copy another companies design :) got it on in the end, hammer wedged in between 2 pipes with knee to push on it to spread them apart and spanner against exhaust flange and some solid bit of the car.. Main problem I had was getting cat-mid pipe bolts off (didn't have spare so needed to reuse) Ended up having to cut through one... Again the worlds smallest hacksaw saves the day! UEL sport special
So after doing my 2001 NA legacy exhaust after a split in the cat, my girlfriends cat (2000 NA Impreza sport special) has a hole which is probably actually a split again after some quick welding from a friend. So she gave me money and asked to order a new cat (only £100 from cats_2_u on eBay) but saw the opportunity to get a stainless steel uel manifold :) As it was short notice got one from toyosports on eBay for £150, seems similar to the one I got from the US minus a toyosports badge but needed it within a week so spent maybe around £50 more than I would of needed to, then got a new lambda etc as well. Cat came with all fittings plus 2 O2 blocking plugs (has 2 holes in cat where I would only need one) Manifold came with gaskets and bolts to cat (one from the US came with bolts for manifold to head, but from memory they didn't fit well?) Will see how this one goes, this is the first car she's had that she loves, the others were just a tool, she even had a go of people taking pictures of her car (thinking it was due to her parking etc) to find out they were just parents looking to get a Subaru for their daughter! Anyways will update on fitting incase other sport owners wish to do the same thing! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Subaru Impreza Rear Window Shattered For No Reason?
Wouldn't have any cracks in it anyway as a crack should shatter it. Saw an article about someone's house window shattering for no reason, think that was as said due to hot/cold cycles. Anything that would cause it to crack a tiny little bit or break off etc would instead make the whole thing shatter Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

New Foz owner/member - 2nd cat/exhaust question
Double check with prices on eBay.com, I got stainless exhaust parts from there and even with postage from the US it was still a good price. $167 for a stainless (non turbo) manifold , just rechecked price from same seller and now it's around £75 for manifold (non turbo) and £35 shipping. Got my cat convertor from there as well although saw one in the UK later on for around the same price, it came with 3 holes for the O2 sensor with a metal bung to seal up whichever hole isn't being used, so I guess if the P0420 pops up will see about putting the O2 in the rear cat to see if it gets rid ;) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Got the car yet? How's the burble? If looking for exhaust parts and comparing prices it's always good to check out eBay.com opposed to eBay.co.uk, sometimes even with postage from the US it could still be a good price. Think it was only around £150 for my stainless (non turbo) manifold from the US (Just rechecked the same sellers page, now says £75 for manifold £37 for postage, end of last year I paid $167) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Saw this nice white Impreza today, spoke to the new owner who said the previous owner was a member on here. Parked next to it and took a picture as you do :) Will have to clean the car tomorrow! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New Subaru Forester Owner! I have some questions -)
I know this is an old thread, but that pic above got my attention :) Didn't read all posts, skipped to the end after realising the date, but if it hadn't been mentioned already, on my Subaru auto (2001) there is a self diagnostics feature for the transmission. It involves driving the car till warm, turning off engine with gear in 1, then with key on engine off move to... 1-2-1-2-3-D. Mine flashed out a TPS code which my obd2 scanner didn't, don't know if it's just an old code I can't reset. Anyway, here's a link http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f89/temp-light-flashing-how-read-code-237225/ Known as the 'secret handshake' Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Loss of power
Any flashing lights when it cut out? Did it not want to fire at all when going from 60 to a stop while still in gear with key in same position or did she put the clutch in or stick it into neutral? Before you do anything which would involve disconnecting the battery, check for any stored codes. Engine light turning off normally after a couple seconds of ignition on doesn't mean there are no codes stored!

Did you still want people to be able to get into the back? Mot tester probably wouldn't be too happy with doors that can't be opened Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
£600 to remove and repaint bumper, replace metal number plate and check behind bumper that no other damage been done. Bumper only damaged by number plate corners bent back and dug in. Estimate off to his insurance. £600.. but don't forget to minus the price of the number plate! Still seems like a lot of money! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
