just finished claying, polishing and waxing my car now so it does't look mucky against the wife's which I did the same yesterday.

smooth as a babies bum (although not having kids, I've no idea how smooth that actually is, which is probably a good thing as if I did know that might raise some awkward questions, anyway, pics below.

Just need a great big seagull to crap on it now

I am at ease, cider in hand as I type [emoji4]

Although the wife's just come back and told me her cars covered in something that looks like it's been sprayed with something, probably fly crap if she's parked near a tree

Been in touch with the seller and i've found a place in hull who might be able to sort ot. Seller has offered a good chunk towards whatever the cost would be but if over a certain amount then will give a full refund. Very honest bloke. Said they were ok on his forester. Reckon if he had the bad one on the back he would never have known as you can only feel it through the steering.

Don't think i'll have any issue and the place i'm going to is a bit more specialist tbh. Fingers crossed.

Cheers

Alan

A good result in the end, hopefully

I'm glad it's working out for you Alan [emoji41]

And sorry if my previous post (prior to editing) seemed a bit scare mongering .

as I've only seen 1 failure and that was done by a powder coating company that doesn't normally work with allys .

there's plenty of companies that do powder coat allys to good effect [emoji6]

Yeah mate, she needs educating on the Ten Commandments of claying...

No1 - thou shalt never park thy clayed car in the slightest vicinity of trees [emoji14]

Yeah no worries :-) I had my race wheels painted for the same reason as you can't see cracking through the powder coat.

Cheers

Alan

The tree sap that comes off them mate that you don't even see....it sticks to your paint like glue [emoji33]

Bonus. Took the wheel to tyremen in hull who I've used before and they are very good. Turns out it was full of that tyre weld stuff so would never balance! They cleaned it all up and found the refurb people haven't cleaned all the corrosion of the inside bead so was probably them who put the sealant in to try and get it airtight!! They cleaned everything up properly and it seated straight on and balanced first go. Only charged me £10 as well which was awesome. Would recommend them as they take care with getting tyres off the rims and don't damage the paint like some of the animals!!

All in all a good result. The seller has never used he seal stuff and we are both plead it was an easy fix. Not charged him for it as not worth te hassle tbh.

Bonus 2!

My new facia panel has arrived today. Top service from hammonds subaru.

Can't wait to get the box open and have a look :-)

Cheers

Alan

It's not actually tree sap, the tree doesn't drop they. What it is is insect !Removed!. Greenfly, any etc they're all sugary, especially greenfly that's why it sticks like syrup.

I got an email today about the lowther show, allegedly from subaru, offering me free entry and other perks.

Anyone else get this, or is it a scammer?

Looks like my wife parked next to someone who used a hose pipe or pressure washer as the marks were water marks, 5 min buff with a cloth and the shine is back, happy days.

Good news about the wheel the4neuk, happy days all round

Not heard about the lowther thing, not sure if scam or not. You'll have to look into it, as long as no card details etc probably legit. They're doing off road driving in the XV and forester there, thought I might pop along just for that [emoji4]

Came home to the owners club tshirt, very chuffed :P  perfect for this weather!

Also fitted the scoop that I bought on ebay.... don't like it :( . Now need to find out if he will take it back so I can have a refund!

Turns out this was genuine - 2 free adult tickets to the event in the bag  :D

Defo going, and Subaru have a stand and are bringing a fleet of vehicles. Not bad for a free family day out.

You can have a go on their off road course too, they're setting one up so you can try out a forester or XV

:)  :)  :)

My wife's got a forester for the day as she having a problem with the turbo under high torque in high gears it just dies, knock it down a gear and up the revs it's fine. So I arranged for her to try a forester as she might look at upgrading, she likes the high position when driving. Will pop some feedback on here once I've had a looksee.
