I hope it works out in your favour as it should. Good luck.

Bendix don't they make washing machines lol. The only bendix parts I have put on a car was a french car which seem to shed parts as you drove it. I guess that tells you something. Bendix and the word brakes would worry me.

https://news.sky.com/story/dashcam-f...ision-11905785 Glad biker survived. No excuses for that one. No road signs so not many or any accidents been there before so the corner cannot be as bad as camera makes it seem. Dry nice day. Looks like the camera picks up something in the car before impact. Was he distracted as that can be he only excuse (poor one at that)? Anyone know the guy?

Try Godspeed brakes and take a look. Please don't go cheap on brakes. I would get 1.5 litres (if I remember correctly) for a flush. Do not let reservoir run dry when flushing and bleeding. Top it up as u bleed them.

LOL. I own a cheap tablet made by "Ainol". pronounced anal in native tongue. Probably did not help sales. I also own a cheap kettle made by "ALCOK". Shizzer i sound really cheap.

Ahh yes generic reader fair enough. At least you are not going mad as you say. Sounds like you will be ok and you can enjoy Subaru life (except the bad start). Shady, do you think they knew, did you buy it like that then?

Sorry to hear it is that amount. Glad you have a found the problem and posted it. How come this code was not found earlier? Good luck with the sellers.

WRX STI Scoobyclinic build report (Project Dotty)
Siluro replied to Jay762's topic in Subaru Build Threads
Any more development on this or have you bitten the bullet and are going to just sort it yourself? Shame really as it looks a lovely car. Whoever is responsible should be named and shamed.- 13 replies

Closing in on 500 posts lol.

Anything to improve the standard brake setup. As Jay says dot 5.1 (not dot 5 as it does not mix and will eat your seals) and new braided hoses is worth the extra pennies. I think they cost me about £70 when I did mine. I upgraded the fronts to brembo calipers (not sti) and 330mm 2 piece disks which totally stopped any fade which was horrible on OEM calipers. This was my first upgrade before I got her mapped. Good luck.

Who knows about the future of any fossil fuel car. It could become worthless as it can only be used on a race track. I personally do not think a 2018 WRX STI will be worth anything once we all go electric as it is too modern and plenty about in the USA. I do hope I am wrong. Fossil fuel cars will become a rich man's toy cause it can only be used on a race track. Palmer who owns most UK tracks will be rolling in it.

Brakes are an easy but dirty job. If you take the disks off make sure the hub surface is spotless. The disk must set squarely onto the hub else you will get a warp. Ideally you should check for runout with a dial gauge if you want to be sure. I have seen countless vids on youtube and not one mentions this.

Remember the tip that someone left about doing this. E.g. don't undo top one before you have drained it from the bottom, but make sure u can loosen both before starting. If the top will not come undone then you will not be able to refill it. I believe that was what they were saying (and makes sense) but i cannot be bothered to look through these posts.

Will a turbo back exhaust with sports cat need a remap?
Siluro replied to WorksDriver's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
My Hawkeye is completely standard bar panel filter, AOS, and big brake Brembo front calipers, and a back box. Mapping is worth every penny. Mine went from 227 to 269 bhp and the difference is very noticable. The torque gained 90 ft lbs at its peak and now pulls like a train compared to stock. 2.5 engine responds quite well to map due to the extra torque. As for mpg i managed 282 miles on 50.28 liters (full tank) which works out at just shy of 25mpg. 240 miles were 70+mph (u know what i mean by +) motorway speeds, put it this way i did worry about my MPG on this journey. Rest was town driving which I know drops below 25. Cost me just over £400. Your hardest part is finding the correct mapper. I used Race dynamics and i know his name is mud with some people. I had no problem with him at all. It is used daily as my only car and has done approx 12k since without any issues. If you look up any mapper you will find horror stories, blow motors, mapping with faulty sensors, blah blah blah. There is some very damning evidence against many so called Subaru specialists and the main dealers are a joke in my experience. Mind you my car only had 36k (47K now) on the clock 3 years ago when it was mapped so car was mint. I also have some mechanical sympathy, and I would hazard a guess some of these horror stories are down to idiot owners. Knowing what I know now I would go with a mapper that did both rolling road and real road mapping. Map it you will not regret it. -
Treatment Additive? Just needs oil.

Lol sounds like a wise move.

Lol it took me a minute to realise what a Tadger meant.

Any recommendations for decent garages? Devon, Plymouth
Siluro replied to Ianb's topic in Subaru Servicing / MOT / Dealers
I mentioned Mr B as in his posts it sounds like he still works on cars. He also talks a lot of sense and seems to know his stuff. I would be happy for him to work on my car. I do not know his exact location but know he is in your part of the country. -
He mapped my Hawkeye WRX at RCM. He done a great job and seems a nice guy. As Tidgy said he did not road test the car just the dyno. I was new to all this but Tidgy's point on a road test is a good one. My car had only done 32K and nothing was wrong with it and it is still happy 15K later. Car is standard bar panel filter and produced 229.5bhp stock. He got it to 270 but pulled it back a bit to just under. The torque figures gained from 275 - 345 Ibft. All on BP Ultimate (best fuel local to me), maybe would have got more on V-power but would you notice it, doubtful. Anyway Good luck as someone will always have an opinion on what mapper you use.

Years ago I had a kit Car, MK Indy that I bought off an engineer who built it. 650KG with 160 bhp 2.0 Pinto. Anyway it had Ford Sierra rear calipers on it. What I did not realise at the time that they were mounted on the car upside down, who would have thought. I know I should've noticed the bleed nipple being at bottom but hey. I cannot tell you how much fluid I pumped through the damn things before I realised, cost me a fortune. Bought bleeding kit as I could not ask my mate to pump the pedal again, etc...... This was over 3 different attempts over 3 different days, so I spent a few hours on this. In the end once I realised, I had to unbolt the calipers, turn upside down, then bleed and bolt back on. Not helpful I know but you cannot do any worse than this. I thought I share anyway.

Same to you. I will be a having a drink at home with my daughter. Mum has her at Xmas I have her over New Year. Must be the Wagon as I find it the total opposite. Corsa's don't even bother. Lots of people ask about the car though. As I have said before everyone likes a Subaru from all ages I find. Kids love the scoop I guess.

New here , possibly purchasing a blobeye wrx

If it is a weekend warrior then go for the STI. You will never make a WRX into an STI without spending more money. The 6 speed box is indestructible compared to the WRX 5 speed. Go look at pictures of the gearboxes the 6 speed is huge in comparison. If you find a well looked after one and you also look after it they are fine. You will find horror stories about any car if look hard enough, especially cars that have a large modding background and idiots without any mechanical sympathy pushing big numbers without supporting upgrades. Pokers with seal bearings failing and destroying engine £8k+, Bmw M3 E92 where not great and the V10 M5 was terrible and would self destruct. How many of these stories are also made up by the aftermarket marketing so they can sell you their upgraded shiny new bits. Go look at american websites that advertise their deals on Subaru Head gaskets, all stating how they all fail blah blah, how gullible can one be. (jez another year older and perhaps a tiny bit grumpier (or is that mistaken for wiser, hmm)) -
Crazy hobby/sport. All that money just to go a few yards pulling an increasing weight. Each to their own i guess. Not exactly thrilling unless they explode which is going to happen at some point. 1.22min is a good one. Sad to see all that time and money go 10ft in the air under its own thrust.

How big is your wallet? Prepare for HG failure. Not all but most, 2.5 are a lot worse for this. £2-5k fix. If you research this, it will put you off (pretty much the same with any modded car). Can be difficult to diagnose. 5 speed weak compared to 6 speed STI gearbox. Just don't hammer it and expect it to handle loads more power. Other than that they are simple to work on and just need looking after and it will give you many smiles per mile. Road tax expensive, MPG poor expect mid 20s mpg depending on type of journey. Full tank >£60 on my Hawkeye wrx can be anywhere between just over 200 miles to 300 miles depending on right foot. Motorway runs at 70-80ish prob return me 28 at best. Not the best in braking department for a car capable of this performance (my first mod). Noise (whiney) drivetrain, noisier than normal cars. PPP pack nice to get more BHP but needs certificate. Prodrive Performance pack. If modded need proof of map important. Cannot add performance mods safely without a map. Check everything. If it has been looked after you will tell from owner if private, they should have all documentation. Plenty of First time buyer threads in forums. Good luck. -

They are hard to find. Mr B (forum member) is from the south maybe near you. Sounds like a safe pair of hands to me. Hope he don't mind me dropping his name. Does not help much but stay away from so called dealerships as they have not got a clue in my area.
