  1. As you have the STI all I have found are lowering options for 20mm lowering - compared to the WRX options which say 30mm - the STI must be lower as standard than the WRX. I have H&R spacers on my motor - great quality product. Why not go for a set of springs as a short term thing then that way it will be a compromise to get the looks whilst researching some coilover options which will get the car as low as you want with the flexibility of damping adjustment but will obviously cost quite a bit more. Or I have found this Koni / Eibach solution https://www.dcperformance.co.uk/uprated/koni-sport-front-dampers/subaru/impreza.html https://www.dcperformance.co.uk/uprated/eibach-pro-kit-springs/subaru/impreza.html comes in at about £900 sheets though

Just had a read of this thread. Driving with the excessive amount of oil in the sump and the flat configuration I would say there is a very good chance you have been throwing oil into the breather system - this in turn going through your chambers is going to impact the power of the combustion as well as coat your dpf. It might be worth having a look down your intake manifold. Excuse my ignorance cannot remember if the XV is NA or turbo but if so disconnecting some of the lower sitting intercooler hoses may result in draining oil out as well?
  3. looking on the positive it is not the rear window element that is faulty so you have a loose connection somewhere
  4. check any fuses, I would guess the light is associated to the signal voltage from the switch that would operate a relay controlling current through higher rated cable - in the same way your high beam and high current aftermarket horns work. I would disconnect the supply lead under the seat and see if there is voltage there - If so it points towards a break in the seats heater circuit / element. If not work on fuses / relays
  5. If you are wanting to go for that much change the dampers as well, they are designed to work with a rod length, shims, valves etc related to the spring height and compression rates. Too small and the travel is really cut down, really affects the feel etc
  6. this is funny - I am getting to the point of checking to see what new threads @Piggysniffer has started every morning - they appear to follow a hilarious trend
  7. Whiteline have had some great reviews with their kit - however what I don't know is if they have had the time in the market place for stuff to fail, be mistreated etc?? I used Eibach and Koni combination in the early nineties which transformed the handling of my sirocco. Litchfield, who have a reasonable reputation when it comes to tuning the scooby chassis sell both Eibach and Whiteline products (disclaimer - other product supply companies are available ) but I think they use the Whiteline ARB product then an Eibach spring Bilstein damper combination So my 2p I dont think you will be disappointed with either option. here are the spring codes for the whiteline product - limited lifetime warranty as well
  8. Buying any car there is always going to be the unknown element and things that go wrong. If you are currently happy with everything else pull the engine and make the changes, at the very least get an aftermarket map specific to your car. Although I - along with a few other members on here, have had no issues with the 2.5 lump, there are a couple of discussion threads on here related to the 2.5 / ringland failure causes etc have a read and see if any of the points relate to your car or the way you drive - that may help ease the paranoia.
  9. Sometimes you can get an additional loom piece that will fit and give the function but not sure if they have those for Subarus
  10. wotcha and welcome - do your other steering wheel stereo controls work (input, channel etc?)
  11. the 1K comes from this post - a coincidence or karma?? There are a couple of threads on WRX STI differences and whilst the WRX shouldnt be automatically discounted because there are some really capable modified WRX's out there the STI has a slightly better package to start with as standard, things vary slightly dependant on year but engine internals, ARB's, more alloy components, bigger wheel bearings, bigger brakes are some differences.
  12. nice - something different
  13. That is a clean motor
  14. now we all need to learn how to play nicely together, although @savage bulldogs your stirring has not gone unnoticed
  15. Right gents thread unlocked, please bear in mind the forum position
  16. That should help sourcing some cheaper winter wheel options for XV owners then - knowing it is indeed a widely used fitment across the Subaru range
  17. These look like the rims I have on my 08 Impreza RX They are a 5 x 100 pcd 17" rim. Tyres have a smaller tyre wall than you are running on the XV, currently shod with 205 50 17's
  18. Wotcha and welcome This is the Hawk model I was looking at originally, prices have gone up in last couple of years though, might be due to all the breakers taking perfectly usable cars off the road http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-SUBARU-IMPREZA-WRX-2-5-STI-TYPE-UK-DCCD-WIDETRACK-GENUINE-46k-FULL-HISTORY-/252617265813?hash=item3ad1299295:g:lZYAAOSwcLxYGfGn. Had a quick look and can see some twinscroll STI JDM blob options for slightly less money, great pieces of kit and you could do a Hawk front end conversion for £999 (see alternate thread )
  19. Does sound good that is for sure
  20. ha ha - such an inconvenience, I did like the brutal sound the straight through one made but I can see living with it could be tiring
  21. Sounding great with that Cobra - awesome tone
  22. Wotcha and welcome - quite a few members on here from Scotland, feel free to get stuck in
