  1. Wotcha and welcome - Love a hatch me - there are some nice examples out there. There are issues with ringland failure on the 2.5 lump, Jap imports have a 2.0 and dont suffer the same so look for, at the very least an aftermarket remap, has been done along with service history. Subaru do a patch themselves and I had Subaru confirm the same modified parameters were included in the PPP pack I had on mine however some 330s and PPP pack owners have suffered so put by some money for a quality RR and ECU map if it has not been done
  2. Wotcha and welcome - I was a late starter also
  3. Wotcha and welcome - great little motor
  4. Wotcha and welcome. Tuning options are limited if you view from a cost / gain perspective - look at high flow air filter and an exhaust to de restrict slightly. Put money into chassis improvements to aid cornering and braking plus look at weight saving to improve power to weight ratio. Dont know what mileage is on it but the auto transmission fluid should be changed at 50 k intervals. I noticed a smoother drive when I did mine (maybe placebo though )
  5. Wotcha and welcome - Type R - crackin motor did it need much doing to it to get it on road?
  6. wotcha and welcome - they have been steadily increasing over last couple of years so I would look at auto trader / pistonheads for a reasonable guage
  7. Wotcha and welcome - keep us posted on your progress
  8. Wotcha and welcome - keep us updated on solution when found
  9. Wotcha and welcome - keep us posted on progress
  10. Wotcha and welcome - love a hatch me
  11. Wotcha and welcome - love a hatch me particularly the Cossie - not heard of that issue before - were they the standard Subaru headers or had they been replaced with an aftermarket set?
  12. Wotcha and welcome - the issues are with both body shapes, the 2.0 hawk will get you lower tax band, make sure there is service history with the car - at 89k the cam belt should have been changed. lots of owners have had no issues with the 2.5 lump myself included sustained high revs and lots of hard cornering can lead to ringland failure particularly on no. 4 piston. forged replacements will stop this also if you intend doing track days or lots of high speed cornering get some form of sump baffling to keep the oil in the enabling pickup
