Another possible noob with a few questions!
Wotcha and welcome Gaz - Bazza (Barry) had a bargain classic located not too far from you (Canterbury Kent) dont know if he still has it though...?? give him a ring on 0771719545 http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/8888-bargain-bagain-bargain-dont-miss/ parts prices will be comparable to your MX5 you can by budget stuff or higher end, yes a service every 5k is a good idea with cam belt and pulleys looked at 30K (im more cautious others will leave the belts longer) dimensions are Wheelbase 2,520 mm (99.2 in) Length 4,340 mm (170.9 in) Width 1,690 mm (66.5 in) Height 1,405 mm (55.3 in) Curb weight 1,220 kg (2,689.6 lb)

Buying advice 2007 Impreza WRX SL
Wotcha and welcome here is an independant review - not sure I am convinced by the reliability score but hey ho - ensure you have a car with a good service history and you should be fine - as it is the WRX with a nice trim but subtle styling it should lower the appeal for someone who would have been inclined to own and abuse the car http://www.autotrader.co.uk/articles/2007/09/cars/subaru/impreza/subaru-impreza-wrx-4-dr-sl-saloon-car-review

Custom hand brake (parking brake) lever
What you could do - does require a bit of work though - is fit a brake lock lever - this puts pressure to the rear brakes via the hydraulic lines, they are smaller than the handbrake lever and could be mounted in a place more suitable http://www.mico.com/products/brake-actuation/brake-locks PS. link is to show examples - I know you can get them in the UK

Finally sorted Clifford nightmare alarm issues !!!!!
I had same issue with the two professional clifford installs I have had, very good marketing, not as great a product - in the end I was recommended a different fitter who turned out used Sigmas, this was pre subaru ownership so was quite pleased to find they came with factory fit Sigmas as I had several trouble free years
