spend some time getting to know your car as is - there is a lot more to be had than just bolting a bigger turbo on, decide what you want from the car and look to make changes off the back of that - you can spend £1000 on a brake upgrade alone (albeit you will stop on a 2p). The forum has some excellent classic project threads, both Matt and Savage are prime examples of choice upgrades. Bolting on a bigger turbo in isolation may just end up in a short term gain followed by a complete engine rebuild.

( http://igotasti.com/vBforum/showthread.php/42-*STICKY*-Differences-between-each-year-of-STi) Version IV (09/97 – 08/98) - GC8E Power remained at 280 PS but torque was raised from 253 lbs./ft of torque to 260. Forged pistons were also added. The interior and the cockpit were changed into a newer design along with the new "White colour" gauges.

Wotcha and welcome - not owned a hawkeye but the shark eye I have owned was a 2.5 and had no issues however there were some instances of ringland failure due to sustained high revs and the engine running a bit lean on number 4 pot, a map from a Subaru dealer or an aftermarket tuner sorted it and it was sorted with the PPP upgrade and as standard on the later 330S - although Petes mate had one let go due to lack of oil . As it stands the engine should get to 150k with proper servicing and considered oil temp management etc - a map from someone like Jolly Green Monster for peace of mind would be the way I would go however consider the cost of getting your injectors properly cleaned, clean air filter and new plugs to ensure the mapper has a good platform to start with.

Wotcha and welcome - that is a great looking motor, for your car we would need the model code for some more info - I can tell you your engine is a 2.0 litre from the EJ20 part and from the year it could be a version IV or V. We have a fair few members with a world of classics knowledge who may be able to supply more info, feel free to get stuck into the forum as we are fortunate to have some friendly characters floating about

sorry to hear thst - look at the turbo oil supply / return pipes - they can become blocked over time if the previous owners have allowed the oil to cook off at the end of a run

BG products do a cleaner which will sort it out, you'll have to take it to a garage that uses BG stuff though, an alternative is removal and a reprogramme of the ecu
