Is the existing block semi closed or open deck? If so 2.1 will be a cheaper option
Its really down to what you want to do and budget, the heads will mate to either option, personal choice would be closed deck converted 2.5. whats in my type R now :D
Built right a closed deck 2.5 will do 500 and still be reliable.
Welcome. Where about's in derbyshire? I'm up Ripley way.
First thing, run it on Vpower or tesco 99 only. Nothing else.
Oil changes every 5k
If a fault pops up or its not driving right, don't try to drive through it, get it checked out and if you have to drive it keep it off boost and under 3k rpm. You can do more damage if you try to push when its not running right.
Keeps up with servicing and maintenance
All cars of that age are prone to it. It's the 2.5 engine that is a dog from the factory, wrx and sti.
Rebuilt right then they make a great engine though.
Don't believe all the power figures that come out of the US, most are rubbish.
If your aiming for mid 600's then i would go to a tuner and get them to spec and built one for you, gonna be a big big list and hefty price tag to boot. Going to various different places will prob cause you issues in the long run if the power level isn't achieved.
Ah fair do's, missed what you were getting at
No, they use a local engineering firm, can't remember the name of it now but they have used them for years for all the machining. Nearly did go to Alyn for mine but since it needed a block and was going for honing etc just went to the same place for converting.
hahaha :d
A second job i know very well lol played it since 2006, other than the break for the last year.
Did feel like a newb trying to get my head round new icons etc though haha
