  1. Not gonna save much money over just buying a license for your current one. And you know your current ecu works fine ;)
  2. Syvecs will be around 2-2.5k. If i was talking about a stand alone ecu would have been alcatek at £1500. Decat and Ecutek map will be around £1500. Problem is its a bit of a no mans land between the two. Ecutek is roughly £550+ vat and once you go beyond basic decat and map isn't ideal, you then get to syvecs at 2k which is mega expensive. In between you have alcatek, but tech support on it sucks and you could be waiting weeks for a code to map the ecu. I would say what are your plans long term? if going engine build, bigger turbo etc then syvecs it rather than pay to have it mapped then junk the ecu and map later. Other thing to note is the syvecs will have a much higher resale value, yet to see one go for below £1k second hand, so cost is only £1k -£1.5k.
  3. just get an uprated panel filter.

    Cheers mate
  8. Subaru's saftey cell survives very well in crash's, found that out myself a while back
  9. If poorly built could end up with metal floating around in the oil which you don't want going round the engine, but thats only if the person building it is a muppet or there is something seriously wrong mechanically. Only exception to that would be motorsport engine which will prob only get 50-100 miles running in, but only last about 1000 miles.
  10. haha, to be fair if you just wanna plug and play then console is the way, also think the the best racing games are on console, gt and forza (although forza is now on pc :D )
  11. see, i was taking you seriously, then you mentioned COD,,,,, hahahaha

  17. fpmsl, that one of scooby with a splif. so since were on the photo shop, can someone have a go with some different wheel options on my car. not overly keen on the ones i have. (borrowed a set of khans while min went in for a tyre, had to wait for it when it had a flat so borrowed a set for a couple of days so pic is my current wheels anyway) have a line on some rota boost, in white though :S Not sure what else, not into split rim type ones but open to other sensible suggestions lol
  18. First off, lag is a myth or a trait of a crap set up, right setup it wont make any difference, or at least none that you can tell by feel (disclaimer, yes there is a slight addition if you calculate it on paper, but your talking fractions of a second). Most people who perpetuate that refer back to a calculation that Andy F did donkeys years ago that was majorly flawed, assumed zero pressure in it and that gear changes happened at 3500rpm. My car pre front mount, My car post front mount, on top mount 3500rpm = 250bhp, 380ftlb, on front mount 3500rpm = 280bhp, 420ftlb, same turbo, both on syvecs with same supporting mods bar the addition of a front mount (not a small one either hahaha). Ebay coolers are hit and miss, get the right one (internal of the core is the important thing) and its fine, get the wrong one and it will be crap, airflow will be disrupted and it wont ever perform. Other than the sound running without DV makes no difference to performance, it will however reduce the life of your turbo, some are more affected by it than others. I run a GFB DV and get chatter anyway.
  19. better get a pic of my fiancee up,,,,,,,, well her car anyway you dirty bunch of pervs
  20. real gamers use a pc, children use consoles,,,,, hahaha
  21. Ask whoever is building your engine and go with that. I;ve had two built and the recommendation was 1. 500 miles, wastegate pressure boost (disconnect it) on crappy mineral oil 2. 500 miles on semi synthetic and no boost, 3. 1000 total total miles, fully synthetic, reconnect wastegate and map to suit
  22. So dads 18 month old XV looks like its going to be written off, car ploughed into the back of mum and dad on the m40 yesterday morning. Both ok, although mum's tweaked her back. cars not so lucky. Impact was from behind and shoved them into the central reservation, looks like enough damage to buckle the bottom of both A pillars :(
  23. 9th march iirc. i;ve preordered on pc :D
  24. didn't think you knew how in the first place,,,, hahaha
