I think other Subaru drivers think it's a Toyota or something, especially without the hood scoop. You could try suddenly downshifting when turning, or turning the opposite way, braking and sudden change in steering while accelerating. All about getting the weight to the front. Or just over inflating the rear tyres? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a shame. I hope you get good money from it. Saw a FB post about cars with the least depreciation value (US and new cars) and Subaru was no.2. Hope someone could make good use of the parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I normally use the D-3-2-1 to downshift when braking, my girlfriend has a manual Impreza sport special and she prefers driving my auto legacy after doing a 12 hour shift and getting stuck in Lowestoft traffic. Maybe she'd be up for a swap ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Having the clock brighter you lose 2 horsepower. That button is there so you can dim it when you are racing. ...hope you didn't believe any of that :P Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've read connecting to the battery negative could (although unlikely) fry delicate electrical parts, but that's when jumping from another car. I guess connecting to the earth would put a serial connection to the battery and not a parallel connection? When reading up on a 2006ish Audi I saw that when connecting a battery it should be fully charged, to do with a 'battery management' computer. Did you not drive it because you were on holiday? If not and you leave it standing often, it's good to start it for 5 or 10 so minutes every week or so, get fluids circulating and pumping the oil around the inside of the engine. That's just what I would do anyway, also keeps your battery charged. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I drive an older 2.5 legacy, about to hit 200,000 miles. Constant start stop driving, only real problem I had was the back of the starter motor cracked making a loose connection, some ball joints and arb bushings. Also I never get waved at by other Subaru drivers :| when driving my girlfriends Impreza I get waved at all the time :| I find that annoying. She finds it funny. Anyway I like the look of yours, maybe look to get the windows tinted? 'Jess' would be a good name for your second wife, looking at the reg plate ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

With the renewal they just keep they same insurance company, if by refreshing you mean calling them and rechecking, then guess it could be cheaper because one has a better no claims discount? I pay about £35ish a month for a 2001 2.5NA legacy, 31 years old. Don't really know how many months I'm paying for the year so don't know how much per year without looking for it! Was about £60 ish, renewal was around the same, but that was the best insurer they found for my previous details. Had to call up and get them to search around to bring it back down. Some companies have a maximum amount of years to where no claims bonuses are added, so 18 years will give you the same discount as 9 or so years Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm with Hastings. If you've made some changes, they will shop around for the cheapest with those changes applied, when renewal time comes they just keep you with the same company. You could try calling them to see if they could make it cheaper by asking them if they could use same details (if nothing's changed) and if they could search through their list of insurance companies Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
Mark D replied to stuartie's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Some people pay extra to have no advisories, think you are the only person who pays to get one! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Found this on YouTube, On a warm engine . Did you get some black smoke out the exhaust every now and then with the dirty maf? If it was running rich, probably got a load of soot in places. If you are sure it's running alright, maybe just flooring it with a warmed engine on the motorway would clean it out. Any excuse ey :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I used several intake cleaners which didn't work but the egr cleaner worked on the maf (Nissan) . I think shining a torch at it a lot at night time and excessive swearing also helped ;) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Engine using a tiny amount of coolant

Try using 'they're safer, they hold you in better. Think about all the things you'll miss if you died' Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
So you are talking about ONLY the abs light? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Very shiny car! Just been watching some mighty car mods videos just now and so thinking window tints would be great on that! I've seen that the scooby spotting page on Facebook organise some dyno days but can't remember where, would be a good chance to meet with other owners. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

It took me 3-4 different intake/electrical cleaners to clean the maf of a small Nissan to get it functioning properly. You want to make sure you clean it properly and no residue on there. I removed it several times to clean and used different methods so can't be 100% but it seems wynns petrol egr cleaner sorted it out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Engine using a tiny amount of coolant
Mark D replied to stuartie's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
It's obvious.. Get your old parts, polish them and make them shiny. Put new expensive parts in, get the wife to agree it was worth it (might be good to know sales people) Put your old shiny parts in your living room. 2 birds.... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Is carbon cleaning worth it?
Mark D replied to Rule106's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
There is the Italian job way of just flooring it and using the heat to burn away the carbon, also there is an old school way (so I've read) using water (in small amounts and high revs to avoid hydrolock) into the intake manifold. I have tried different ways of cleaning with sprays designed for intake cleaning but haven't noticed anything, I would think if you had a problem with knocking in your engine that it would be worth it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
From what I understood the charcoal canister does is as you put fuel in, air has to go out so it could vent out the canister while catching the fuel vapour. As you use fuel, air has to get into the tank and does so from there. Also when parked and expansion of vapours etc. When you start your car the engine sucks in the trapped fuel vapour to burn. Think it's to do with not polluting the air with fuel Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Wouldn't some fuel end up going down the vent pipes to the charcoal canister? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New car new problem, MAPPING PLEASE HELP
Mark D replied to cornish6544's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
Any stored/pending diagnostic codes? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Could try www.imprezabreakers.co.uk, based in Norfolk but had bits that would go on my legacy. If they have one they should be able to post on eBay for you to buy on there then post. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Or if not then a bumper that could be sprayed black as there are several workshop/garages there but not sure if there are painters

I've got an earthing kit on my 2001 legacy, just a bunch of wires that connect to the battery and random parts of the car. Read some owners had problems with earthing / wires improved the responsiveness.. got it anyway, didn't really notice anything different as the car was alright before that. Some old guy once told me the old cars were + earthed but changed to - earth to help the body deter rust.. don't know if that's true or not but it was another good reason to check everything is earthed properly :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
