  1. Yes, seems more efficient and much quieter engine than mine. I'll hang on to mine until the new facelift model comes out. Looks quite smart I think
  2. This is the new Subaru Crosstrek, XV may not exist soon. Due to be announced at the Geneva motor show 2017. Ignoring the colour, what are your thoughts?
  3. Finally got tired of the error messages and the fact it had started making a funny noise. Wife's car has been problematic from day one so chopped it in for an identical one but a 66 plate. Hopefully she'll have a bit more luck with this one.
  4. Dug, no need to dissappear, we'll still be here
  5. We'll update on wife's car with this error messages, she's now getting them all the time, all three, dynamics, ABS and hill start, but it's got much worse. hill start assist no longer works, cruise control has stopped working, central locking doesn't always unlock the doors. this has to be a software issue, all these things should go wrong at once?
  6. My wife's car is doing this now. Mainly when she's in traffic and it's stop start. It's something to do with the hillstart assist, which is obviously very active in stop start traffic.
  7. Generally it's easier just to lock and unlock the doors with the remote. I've had this happen to me.
  8. My wife's car is doing this same thing throwing up error messages that clear on a restart, vehicle dynamics, hillstart assist and abs are the ones coming up, it's apparently a common glitch, much like the oil low warning light when it's full of oil
  9. Apparently the XV sometimes just randomly throws up an error, usually it comes with other warnings like hillstart assist all at once. If it clears after a 20sec turn off then it's likely just a bug
  10. Mine came in at about £300, could have saved £30 with Admiral but refused to use them out of principle Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks Dan, emailed you
  12. I know but I have to put construction and my wife puts retail, I know mine pushes my insurance up so that wasn't it. But I've had a response from Admiral about why my wife's car insurance and it's basically because they judge you not on how safe a driver you are but the demographic you fall in. So regardless of whether you've had any accidents they look at your age and your occupation, credit rating etc and if you fall in a group that statistics say have more accidents then it's unlucky you, up goes your insurance. They also add a significant weighting for the fact that you've had a non-fault accident, so when your driving along minding your own business and that Pratt drives into the back of your car and his insurance pays up, if you're with Admiral up will go your insurance. Ive told them to clear off, even though they ate the cheapest I'm not going to use them if this is how they go business. Quote me happy we're slightly dearerbut both me and our wife's insurance came within a couple of quid of each other which seems fair.
  13. Well I've had a response from Admiral about why my wife's car insurance and it's basically because they judge you not on how safe a driver you are but the demographic you fall in. 14. Apparently I've been told there's a possibility her insurance is dearer because she's got 1 no fault claim and one windscreen replacement, thus she has 2 no fault claims and that can put her insurance up by as much as 300% WTF!!! So I drive like an angel and someone else drives like DIC! And I have my premiums go up! Are people having a laugh?
  15. Admiral multi car are the ones I'm having problems with. My wife has exactly same car as me, no accidents, full no claims, same annual mileage, my car is the newer more expensive to replace and I need business use and she doesn't. The only difference is she's a women after that. I have asked for an explanation but they're claiming its to do with the credit check which is rediculous because we were looking at a one off payment so why the credit check?
  16. Need to find a supplier for insurance on both our XVs due up in next couple of weeks. Got a decent price for mine but my wife's is coming back at silly money despite our details being exactly the same apart from her being a female. Looking for sensible quotes for both, any suggestions?
  17. Ok, so I went onto compare the market today to get a quote for my XV, cake out at £280 which seemed fair enough, so I phoned Admiral who provided the quote and they suggested multicar as my wife's car is also due at the end of the month, so I thought that might be worth a look. So we put the details of both cars and drivers in ww both have 9+ years no claims bonus, both of us have only made one windscreen claim on the last year, we live at the same place, she does about 4000 miles more than me a year. Everything else is the same, excess the lot. so you can imagine my surprise when admiral came back and said my insurance with multicar bonus would be £250, however my wife's car would be £425?? So I questioned why this was so much dearer when she's only doing an extra 4000miles. So I asked the lady on the phone to make her mileage the same as mine. Now everything is the same except I have business use on mine and my car is newer and has a slightly higher cost, but no, no change at all. So now I'm on the position where two identical cars, driven by two identical drivers, with the same mileages and the same values same everything except for one detail, my wife is a woman? So she pays £180 more than me for exactly the same product, admiral can't provide any explaination for this. I am now awaiting a call back for an explaination, currently they seem to be suggesting that it's my wife's credit rating that may be the difference. Not sure how this would affect an insurance quote as at this point I haven't suggested we want to pay monthly. anyone else come across this?

Well that seems to clear that up.
  19. Looks alright that, how much did it cost, I assume it's not the £80 Subaru charge for theirs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Jay, it is a turbo intercooler in the XV diesel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

But it does clearly state in the handbook that it's 0-30 oil that needs to be put in. I had a long discussion with a Subaru dealers who said it could void your warranty if running the wrong oil. Did you contact Subaru UK customer service to get confirmation of your dealer's claim that they can use 5w-30?
  22. Apparently it's just a case of preventing the wires chafing and wearing through. Just needs some foam to sort it. I am currently trying to find out which models it affects but it's likely to be all XV models. Mine is being done when it's in for its MOT. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Oh know they're not snow tyres. They're all season tyres. I was merely making the point that they're actually quite good in the snow.
  24. Well this came direct from Subaru UK so it's legit. I was in contact regarding another issue and they sent this. "As an aside, our vehicle records confirm the following safety recall is currently outstanding on your XV: * SRT215 - Steering Column Wiring Harness Please contact your local Subaru dealer in order to arrange to have this safety recall carried out (which is free of charge) at your earliest convenience."
  25. Have been advised by Subaru yesterday that my car (which is a 2014 model) has a safety recal against it for the steering column wiring loom. They weren't clear which models are affected but if you have an XV it might be worth enquiring. There's a free modification being offered.
