  1. Had a lot of fun! Sump baffle solved my boost issues. Would recommend that mod if anyone has track day boost issues. My brakes were rather shocking. Once hot massive amounts of steering wobble [emoji848] Had a bit of a fueling issue late on and a top/head knock which was suspect injector but later the knock cleared. Didn't get to retest the hesitation. It was in 4th/5th heavy load, every so often it would just cough slightly. Gonna whip the injectors out and have them flow tested/cleaned. Even ploughed a field for the boys at brands.
  2. Try giving Ian a call at godspeed. Very knowledgeable chap and good brakes/prices.
  3. You have put sold as seen on your receipt but the "tried and approved" part is what will trip you over at court as they never tried it. Let it go to court. You done what was right in refusing the allow a test drive as that would have been illegal. The buyer still wanted to buy the car. You gave a reduced price almost as a bargaining factor against the lack of test drive and factoring in the risk of buying with no test drive. Clutch could have been tested on the driveway. Handbrake up, first gear, no revs and find the bite. Keep releasing the clutch and see how far you can go before the car stalls. If it's almost instant, you have a good clutch. If you get near the top of peddle the clutch is on the way out. (might not be a perfect test but it's a good indicator.) Your case will be: Sold as seen and agreed with buyer. Would've been illegal to test drive and buyer knew the risk. Discount given on original price factoring in no test drive. All defects that you were aware of were disclosed to the buyer. If you're concerned about the reality of the court letter, give the court a call and ask for confirmation.
  4. A blob only has 2 catalytic converters commonly referred to as "cats". The 3rd box is simply a resonating box used to quieten down an exhaust. A lot of the time a resonator will be incorrectly identified as a "cat". Leaving that box on will not affect an emissions result. The op reads as having removed the up pipe and down pipe cat, leaving the car completely decat. Obviously a car with absolutely no "cats" will always fail an emissions test.
  5. The shear number of references! Guess I should pipe up. I will look in to getting something organised.
  6. Smells a bit fishy. With no catalytic converter there is no way a car will pass an emission test. Were the garage aware of it being a decat? Is it actually decat or are you using the term decat meaning non resonated?
  7. It's one of those that will be hard to tell. My track day was cancelled due to weather so I wasn't able to test it fully. Rebooked for 18th January.
  8. We had a bit of snow in Kent. Apparently enough to cancel my track day at brands hatch [emoji34]
  9. Which clutch depends on what power you have. The job will be a lot more difficult than smaller cars. Don't get a paddle clutch. Great for launching and racing but horrible for town/traffic/hillstarts.
  10. More like yesterday, but attempted to fit my baffle plate. Pretty much got it done. Not as bad of a job as it's made out. Got to the fitting stage and ran out of light, patience and tools. Bottled it and put it in to a garage today. If anyone tells you a sump change can't be done on a drive, they just haven't got the bottle. Won't say it's an easy one but certainly doable.
  11. Ah ok, it would depend how it was built, what parts were used and the type of block it is.
  12. https://importcarparts.co.uk/parts-info?id=10860&cat=96&sub=97&sec=143&var=37&dc=0&gen=&searchKey=&searchPart= You may struggle to raise that price. ICP have the pair plus boots for £40 For newer models a slight increase. https://importcarparts.co.uk/parts-info?id=11395&cat=96&sub=183&sec=277&var=37&dc=0&gen=&searchKey=&searchPart=
  13. What exactly are you selling? Just the short engine or the entire car that needs rebuilding?
  14. Welcome to the club. Mighty fine motor to start a Subaru career with. Looks clean and tidy.
  15. Love humble bundle! They have xcom free at the minute. Grabbed so many games that I don't need due to them. Thier.montjl subscription offers up good value occasionally too.
  16. Tim, Just got myself a sump baffle plate to help with track days. Looking for a recommended oil for a classic impreza, modified(276hp) on 177k miles. 1-2 track days a year if I'm lucky. Do oil changes approx 2-3k mile intervals. Barely cover 2-3k miles a year now so limited use.
  17. Got some goodies. Anyone have experience with these baffles? Taking a bit of a risk, trial and error fixing the boost issue I had at Silverstone. Got brands in 3 weeks so get this in an test it.
  18. There's a few of us going. Should get some good footage.
  19. Ordered a sump baffle, gasket, three bond and oil service kit in prep for the old girl doing a brands hatch open pit day.
  20. I'm intrigued. What are we looking for?

    I'm Back

Welcome back. Hasn't been the same!
  22. Any bubbles in the overflow tank? A sniff test could help diagnose. When you say "which side", if it is head gasket don't try to fix just one side and even then don't just do the head gasket. You'll want to refresh the whole bottom end for.peace of mind.
