  1. You can make anything fit if you are determined enough - check out some the project threads. The intake will meet the alloy cast piece leading to the throttle body, get that jubilee clip off and measure the diameter at that point. From then you will need a selection of silicon hose pieces, alloy / steel tubing and your universal aftermarket filter. mounting the MAF will need to be addressed either by using your original pieces and combining with your aftermarket stuff or making a mount in one of the metal tubes. I would go for the latter as you keep your original scoob stuff so you have a fall back option.
  2. Wotcha and welcome - as above there are quite a few differences which also run to chassis strength as well - brakes, suspension, anti roll bars, I think you are missing a rear one on the GX which is in place on the turbos, stand to be corrected on that one but there may well be a diameter difference if it is in place. Buying a pranged donor car and effectively re-shelling it would be one way to go - that way you can see the specific differences between the turbo and non turbo motors. I had a hatch STI and am now driving a hatch RX - they are poles apart in performance and handling with the latter being very soft across the board. Any chance you could get a drive in a wrx or STI to see for yourself?
  3. get a spacer saver with the same rolling radius but higher sidewall, smaller rim and that will get you where you need to be - Space savers are to be driven at reduced speed anyway so the uneven forces experienced working on the tyre due different tread patterns and grip (due to width) will not result in an excessive / dangerous amount of wear. Same goes for torsional strain on gearbox, diff etc - as a stop gap you will be going a lot slower than normal so will not be straining anything due to different tyres
  4. Wotcha and welcome - don't be camera shy feel free to share Betty in all her glory
  5. for clarity guys what are you referring to when you say centre console - any chance you could put up a photo - not cracked anything yet but would like to be aware. there is a vid on youtube I remember seeing which shows front bumper removal on the hatch - they use two screwdrivers to hold the unit in place whilst removing all of the clips
  6. Wotcha and welcome - dont know the car myself but someone may. Many members cover the plate up when sharing photos so if you can share some it may jog a memory?
  7. nice one - check out this thread for ebony inspiration.
  8. This is correct STI = 114x5 WRX = 100x5 is it not possible to get a larger rear wrx disc to suit the STI calipers. One thing I would say is if you get the chance to drive a Hatch STI, 330s, TYPE UK PPP etc with the brembo calipers, do so, as I found them to be very wooden with low feel - yes they pulled you up when you stood on them but I have more feel for what the brakes are doing on the RX than I did on the STI. At one point I thought the calipers had stuck so pulled them all off and ensure they were all free - which they were. I wasnt convinced the ratio between master cylinder and the calipers was correct but had to let the car go before I had got to the root of the issue.
  9. power vs weight ratio - plus I think you have AWD still as well where as some of the earlier NA scoobs were 2WD. gets some photos up from under the bonnet and we can see if it is the same setup as the 2.0. I believe you have equal length headers so you wont get the original burble like the classics blobs and bugs
  10. Yup know what it is like when you want to get on with stuff
  11. I think I would colour code - but you are in a good position as they do go with the grill so you could hold off and see which way you want to go
  12. me to, another one on my project list...
  13. yup when I was doing a lot of miles I always had tool box in back - Came in very useful on a few occasions, seized calipers and such like
  14. that is well worth a punt at that price!
  15. Is it worth contacting these people for a SS option? http://www.subaru4you.co.uk/exhaust/legacy.shtml#legacy0413ss
  16. Made me smile - but also very well done
  17. found a UK supplier of a better product but they have them in stock and they will do the job http://shop.grahamgoode.com/company-23-impreza-specialised-workshop-tools-25131-c.asp
  18. Thanks for all the input - I ended up using a paint kit (brush type) did all the prep with brake/clutch cleaner after scrubbing the silver rattle can stuff off. The only issue was it took multiple coats of the gloss red option I chose to get them looking reasonable as they are a dark cast metal and the paint was slightly translucent. The instructions reckoned x2 coats, I did at least 4 (lost count, easily distracted) they probably needed another two for the best finish. This is the kit I used was the Foliatec High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint Lacquer Kit £25
  19. Not a scoobie but pure petrol head aural pleasure Skip to 18:55
  20. yup the link I posted was purely for the contact - I would also contact cobra as they can do bespoke stuff so will get you something exactly to your requirements + guarantees + stainless steel product.
  21. Buddy by the time you have paid some rental and spent time and money collecting / returning the tool you may as well just buy one - think they are about £30
