  1. I just make ptssssh sounds in mine when it changes gear
  2. The map will be fine as it takes the relation between engine revs, throttle position and fuelling etc at a given point into consideration - yes the inertial weight has been lowered so it take less power to make the rotary movement and as such will spin slightly easier but fuelling will be appropriate as the speed increases / decreases
  3. I saw the same - most enjoyable - mind you they did replace the standard ford lump with a US turbo V6 beasty, which they then tweaked a little . The RX hatch has a front end that is more plastic than holes so you should be able to trade off one against the other by substituting a wrx or sti item and maintain enough airflow
  4. Yup its an easy job to remove the bumper and then you can get to the back of the grills no issue - replacing with an sti item is an option (badges come off easily enough) carbon fibre option here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carbon-Fiber-Front-Mesh-Grill-Grille-for-2008-2011-2010-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STi-/221802714469?hash=item33a478d565:g:PO0AAOSw~OdVgDUG
  5. The 2-3K is more likely the exhaust - resonance / back pressure waves etc, a back box as suggested would go some to smoothing that but exhaust powervalves were invented because of that flat spot
  6. Def sounds exhaust related to me - when you get your lass to rev it watch your hand as those gases get hot, I learnt the hard way finding a blown head to manifold gasket on a 200sx. As mentioned previously check the plugs are in place - but if the air movement is up close to the nuts on the manifold it will be gasket or manifold
  7. Got a similar one on mine - I put it down to a water catch tank, hadn't figured on an air reservoir. Is your motor struggling at the moment - have you got a high flow panel filter fitted?
  8. Try a thread in the parts for sale section, some want spare wheels for winter or track day tyres
  9. Wotcha and welcome - I would struggle to do FWD now - RWD or AWD for me
  10. Currently running Conti sport contacts - better than the Toyo Proxes and Yokohamas they replaced - although the Yokos were not a particularly sporty variety
  11. Nope - ODB device has not arrived yet.... Ill let you know when it has
  12. As above chum - do you have designs on a different model?
  13. You do need to run the aircon regularly, hot in winter as well as cool in summer - helps keep seals lubricated, stops them drying out going hard and then leaking
  14. Lovely looking motor - should have no issues moving that good luck with the sale

    New BRZ

Wotcha and welcome - sounds like you are in for a real treat as the N/A engine on those really comes into its own higher up the rev range. Feel free to get stuck in - all friendly on here and keep a camera handy for the pick up
  16. Rizzo the Border Terrier Way more intelligent than the Staffie we had before - has escaped from the garden in our new place twice now - Think I have found Tom, !Removed! and Harry but am also checking the roof for signs of a glider
  17. depends on what you would like to spend. filter, de/sports cat, free flow pipe is low end but as it is N/A the returns are not going to be huge but with a map you will get the 2.0 lump running as it should not restricted to manufacturing / Euro regs. You could look at a full lightening and blueprinting of the engine - lumpy cams, ported + flowed heads (possibly bigger valves dont know??) etc that will get you more but will start to hike the cost. I have been contemplating the idea of a 2.5 lump replacement without the turbo setup. power to weight ratio is a good low cost approach - remove or replace heavy items Buuuut the chassis is setup up for comfort not speed so gains can be had by stiffening it up (shocks ARB etc), replacing standard discs + pads (possibly braided hoses) to improve the braking capability (they are not bad as standard and give better feel than my STI but do fade under enthusiastic driving) I have just ordered the ODB and app so will have a crack at the 0-60 times as the standard auto box change program is not great - I checked with Subaru, there are no modification (PAK) files to change / improve it. So that 0-60 of 11.5 may be in standard auto mode. Ill do a run in Sport auto and also me manually operating the box
  18. Wow 11.5 - didnt realise it was that slow but hey ho will ideal for where its going to end up
  19. Wotcha and welcome - nice piece of kit you have there
  20. Im with Piggy - read - was here in spiritual support but can offer nothing more than positive vibes for this one
