you don't need a remap with just the filter, hold off until you get the exhaust as well. either of those filters are fine however you will find the majority of the oil free ones are consumable as the filter to catch particles is that fine it blocks up then cannot be washed hence the use of oil in the washable ones the filter is noot as fine but oil captures the smaller particles which can be washed off. ]

the 3.5mm adapter results in a socket in the cubby hole - its the same in the Impreza hatch, if you only want that then it would be no issue to get the leads and put it in yourself drilling a hole in the box to mount the socket resulting in a lot lower cost. if you want the ipod control I would go the whole hog and replace the head unit with a DAB with a functional Ipod controller - Kenwood and Pioneer both do nice units

sounds like you have an earth somewhere - remove the lighter socket and just have the connector wires in place - see if it blows again, if not it is an issue with the socket - if so you need to check the wiring - you may have chafed some insulation causing a ground during installation

wotcha and welcome - a generic reader or smart phone software with odb 2 adapter - bluetooth or cable will be fine fault codes are listed on this forum so you should have no issues troubleshooting plus we have some great contributing members with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Wotcha and welcome - the Prodrive exhaust option wont be a system just the backbox - they tend to have prodrive stamped on each of the tailpipes so quite easy to establish if it is or not you'll have to define reasonable as there are a few options of varying price also if you do have a Prodrive back box that is less restrictive than standard so changing to a different aftermarket supplier for just that will not necessarily give you any gains. A remap may improve things in conjunction with a full system but you may need to look at an uprated fuel pump also (cant remember if the wrx s has it as part of the upgrade) also check the panel filter as budgeting £40 for a high flow replacement may be money well spent

I have been running conti sport contact 3's most recently but browse the forum as there is a thread on this and I cant remember all of the specific comments but I think goodyear eagle f1's performed well on the highland run (and given the recent vids of this years event they do get a good all round testing ;) ) was one of them
