Was speaking to kevv before christmas about orderig some bits and enquiring about mapping, Is it not pat ?

Why so many crap tuners poping up?
At the end of the day people are always going to have had bad experiences with all the various tuners, there's threads all over with mud slinging from well respected tuners aimed at each other, You'll always get Somone who wants more than the mapper will advise or the car can take so when it goes bang they'll blame whoever mapped it. Not the fact that they ignored the advice from Mr x etc etc. Any monkey with a laptop and cable can attempt to map, (no offence ment to anyone or our primate friends) once they have the basics understood, doesn't mean they are any good, years of experience count for alot obviously, hell I'm in the process of learning about my esl, but there's no way I'd say I could tweak a map for someone or offer my services to anybody, just cos I have the cable I'm doing it purely because I'm interested in my car and how it works, At the end of the day we all have our prefered garage/tuners, I take most of the stuff on the Internet with a pinch of salt. Do your research into your chosen tuner, don't let Internet bunfights get into your head and ask people who you know for recommendations. I chose Martin to do my work because he spent 20 mins on the phone before I bought my car telling me what to look for and what to avoid etc. I'd never seen the bloke or used his garage before, but because of his willingness to answer my daft questions I had no problems with trusting him with my car,

learn to map
I've an evoscan cable at the mo with there software as it was 50 quid as esl wanted 175. What I didn't know is it won't work with esl software due to not having a dongle, if you buy their cable with the board it's half price. I'm ordering it as they knew dunc supplied it in feb so I can have it at reduced rate. Evoscan one I've not had chance to use it as only turned up the other day it offers live data, logging and what not but I can't see as much as with the esl.

Worrying loss of oil on a 200 mile run
The crank case valve only vents the blow by gasses back into the system, there's no way you'd get a liter past it without it throwing a cel. If there was that much venting it means it's blowing by the rings, but if you've got no blue smoke it can't be.

2008 JDM wing mirrors (smaller than UKs)
There's an eu directive that states the mirrors must be a certain size that corresponds with the car. Something daft like, times the length and width of the body, divide by x and you'll come to the square area needed for the mirror. Have you seen them in the rolls Royce phantom ? I'd stuck them on if you don't like you can always shift them on

Best clutch for classics.
Scooby clinic recon the blue will take 350bhp but i'd move up to tge pink for peice of mind, considering it's a ig job no point doing it twice, I'm sure the pink below 300 will be fine it's just more expensive, both the same type, just think the compounds are different Just get the 5 speed classic, think it's a pull type but don't hold me to that

Best clutch for classics.
Exedy blue box for up to 300 bhp Pink box for above

Impreza turbo 2000 uk
Mine was a direct swap v3 normal to v3 sti so no mods or map required like I say only changed it for the y pipe as they couldn't be arsed making me one. Spools up so much quicker now Theres a thread in the engine section about i/c info it's a good read regarding effectiveness, New age ones will fit with bracket modifications and I suspect they'll need mapping due to increasing volume of air.
