  1. Hello, not heard of this before but doesn't mean it's not an issue, is it the internal fans or the ones next to the radiators ?
  2. Hi mate, not entirely sure as there should be a crank angle sensor under there at 90° to the top of the block, possibly red plug if I remember correctly, can you get a pic up ? I've moved into the engine section should get a better response there [emoji3]
  3. Good job mate, I tried martin but he was busy and I forgot to call back
  4. Not too sure about that Is the key i'd on the sales receipt ? What alarm do you have fitted ?
  5. It's relatively easy bit quite fiddly and much easier with another pair of hands, hardest thing is getting it all back together as the car needs to be sat on its wheels when your tightening it all up. may as well upgrade the droplinks at the same time as the stock ones will probably flex loads with a bigger bar on, I'd go for the 22mm rear bar from whitleine l, put this on a couple of months back and it's made the world of difference.
  6. Some chap was asking for a standard classic the other day, I'll see if I can dig post out
  7. I'd go 22mm rear bar, ally droplinks, then either lowering springs or coil overs the anti lift kit is worthwhile too.
  8. Are you planning on tracking the car ? If not I'd just do the rear anti roll bar, droplinks all round and shocks, upping both bars can make it a bit unpleasant on the road 24mm rear bar on the road is too much in my opinion
  9. I find that brake cleaner is useful to clean ally bits you can't get at easily . Not had any adverse effects yet [emoji55]
  10. Have a search mate, there's a couple of recent ones with people's choices
  11. Ah boo, easiest way is to remove plugs & leads remove airbox, battery & washer bottle and loosen engine mounts then jack the engine up to gain access, there are a few other bits to remove aswell but that's the bones of it Www.importcarparts.co.uk your best bet, if your struggling or can't find it on the site give them a call they should have it
  12. No worries mate, do you have an independent subaru specialist ? A main dealer would probably have your eyes out for this as it's simple enough, but access and the bits you have to remove are time consuming
  13. Can you post up a pic of the offending item, the complex wizardry of the twin turbo set up baffles me
  14. Hundred quid roughly for a garage to do it, about 50-60 diy, to be honest it's worth paying somone as it's a pig. That's the half moon that accompanies the cam cover gasket, they get hot and brittle and eventually perish. At least it looks like something simple
  15. Works for me, bit hit and miss though
  16. Doesn't sound normal, is there any blue smoke when running the car or any smell of burning oil when you lift the bonnet. Do you still have the plastic under tray on the car ? If so the oil will collect there and not drip down that quickly. I'd check sump plug on properly, oil filter had no holes and is seated correctly, Shine a torch down the left side of the engine between the airbox and cam covers, see if there's any puddles there, the gaskets weep but not enough to loose that much oik in such a short amount of time, also check the oil feed line to the turbo is ok and has no holes in.
  17. Cheers. Do you have any extras on yours ? Anti lag win maps etc ?
  18. Did you get the gauges installed yet mate?
  19. Cheers mate, one of the other members is looking at open source, for a legacy, mind if I put him in your direction about the car berry ? As I only know of two people yourself include that run it
  20. Most of the top mappers will travel, maybe worth giving them all an email and see what you can get, Matt you using ecutek or carberry ?
  21. Hehe, plus the layout of the engine means that in the event of a head on the engine gets pushed down and underneath the cabin thus lessening the likelyhood of more severe lower body injury !
  22. No 6 on the list does it every time, my misses doesn't drive so that's the end of any argument, when she can she gets an opinion on what we're driving [emoji51] Seriously is your wife thinking about learning to drive ? The insurer won't even think about entertaining the idea of a learner driver in my forester. I'm now seeing between 28-35 mpg out of mine so it's not to ruinous on the wallet any more, supermini will never in a million years see the press figures in real world so you'll probably end up with 37-40ish normal driving which isn't that much different. Super mini small and vunerable,no power to accelerate out of harms way, try going any length of time with someone in rear seats, The wife wanted a practical safe family car that didn't look too fast, so I bought a forester [emoji51]
  23. To be honest, have you just looked at standard shocks with a lowering spring on ? All the people I know who have coil overs fitted don't even bother altering them once they have been set up
  24. To be honest it's something I don't really understand much about, just found out that the impreza/legacy wheels cause rubbing on the forester due to the offset being greater on them than the foz. I guess you'd have that extra couple of mm clearance
