  1. looking great - a really clean build
  2. Agree - welding is way to go - was thinking the spark erosion approach of 'burning' the bolt head away would be too much for the surrounding alloy casing
  3. Yup looks like welding is your next step - spark erosion will probably damage your caliper
  4. Wotcha and welcome!! Having spoken to a couple of 4x4 offroading chums they like any excuse to do a bit of winching so good chance that motor was taken past it limits on purpose. One guy I knew used to take his 4x4 on Salisbury plain - not too far out from London but watch out for Tanks
  5. Think there was a recent thread discussing the same question. thicker Anti-roll bars suspension package - coilovers or upgraded standard suspension components for quicker steering look at a rack from a new STI which has a better ratio (this applies to the 08-12 STI models also) looking at circa 1K cost though from Subaru
  6. Im with SGhost on this one - once again trying to legislate for people doing what they know is wrong, I dont know the answer - I am seeing more people driving with a sense of entitlement (outside lane of empty dual track 50 mph in a NSA limit etc) as opposed to with road sense, due care and attention plus awareness. Maybe if we all rode motor bikes???
  7. Wotcha and welcome - feel free to get stuck in - all friendly on here and we do like photos so don't be camera shy
  8. You are supposed to oil after cleaning however I never have as A) I never cleaned the filter B) the way I looked at it was I wasn't using the cars in unduly dusty conditions and any particles small enough to get through were not going to impact the performance hugely, particularly as I had not fitted an air oil separator so oil from the breather going through the pots was going to have a greater affect than the small dust particles.
  9. Have a great time Guys and Gals hope you all awoke to full stockings
  10. It does impact 4T NA engines, hence development of exhaust valves to change the diameter of the pipe and improve midrange pull plus smooth delivery by removing flatspots. Length of pipe can also improve torque. But turbo engines just need the fastest least resistance path to atmosphere to help spool and response.
  11. not come across oil pump seizure - oil starvation yes but not seizure
  12. Hopefully they will get that completed as they explained on the course they were having a specific break from day to day business to finish the V1 pack and the 99/00 cable / software pack (I saw the working prototype with a useful brick recovery feature)
  13. Nice write up - think I prefer the replacement G clamp foot to the anodised red option
  14. As above - power to weight ratio is better so you will get improved fuel economy
  15. Might have to retract my statement there.... been doing a bit more digging ( http://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/product.aspx?prod=33-2304) and they look like they are pre oiled - when I first bought K&N's they came with a little oil bottle which I never used now they dont. The filter itself certainly did not have the feel of any oil so I believe I was mistaken I ran a K&N on my STI and am now running one on my RX - no issues with oiled up MAF on either but obviously to avoid any risk at all go for one of the other suggested.
  16. Im running K&N - comes oil free and did not oil it prior to fitting (only ever oiled my MX bike filters) but either K&N or Cosworth will see you right
  17. With Defi I thought it depended on the gauge some are ordered colour specific some you can change, have a link somewhere....
  18. great looking motor - some quality upgrades
  19. Only dealt with them a couple of times - had no issues, mate of mine deals with them regularly, has one of them posh Datsun R35 thingies and rates them. Given your location I dont see why a call would be out of the question.
  20. not familiar with your model but steering columns I have played with in past could only go in one way or had a pin / knuckle joint at the base which would mean 180˚ out could be possible. When fitting aftermarket steering wheel bosses they were bolt mount so could be rotated Have you had the wheel off? Could you post some pics?
