  1. looking on the positive it is not the rear window element that is faulty so you have a loose connection somewhere
  2. check any fuses, I would guess the light is associated to the signal voltage from the switch that would operate a relay controlling current through higher rated cable - in the same way your high beam and high current aftermarket horns work. I would disconnect the supply lead under the seat and see if there is voltage there - If so it points towards a break in the seats heater circuit / element. If not work on fuses / relays
  3. If you are wanting to go for that much change the dampers as well, they are designed to work with a rod length, shims, valves etc related to the spring height and compression rates. Too small and the travel is really cut down, really affects the feel etc
  4. this is funny - I am getting to the point of checking to see what new threads @Piggysniffer has started every morning - they appear to follow a hilarious trend
  5. Whiteline have had some great reviews with their kit - however what I don't know is if they have had the time in the market place for stuff to fail, be mistreated etc?? I used Eibach and Koni combination in the early nineties which transformed the handling of my sirocco. Litchfield, who have a reasonable reputation when it comes to tuning the scooby chassis sell both Eibach and Whiteline products (disclaimer - other product supply companies are available ) but I think they use the Whiteline ARB product then an Eibach spring Bilstein damper combination So my 2p I dont think you will be disappointed with either option. here are the spring codes for the whiteline product - limited lifetime warranty as well
  6. Buying any car there is always going to be the unknown element and things that go wrong. If you are currently happy with everything else pull the engine and make the changes, at the very least get an aftermarket map specific to your car. Although I - along with a few other members on here, have had no issues with the 2.5 lump, there are a couple of discussion threads on here related to the 2.5 / ringland failure causes etc have a read and see if any of the points relate to your car or the way you drive - that may help ease the paranoia.
  7. Sometimes you can get an additional loom piece that will fit and give the function but not sure if they have those for Subarus
  8. wotcha and welcome - do your other steering wheel stereo controls work (input, channel etc?)
  9. the 1K comes from this post - a coincidence or karma?? There are a couple of threads on WRX STI differences and whilst the WRX shouldnt be automatically discounted because there are some really capable modified WRX's out there the STI has a slightly better package to start with as standard, things vary slightly dependant on year but engine internals, ARB's, more alloy components, bigger wheel bearings, bigger brakes are some differences.
  10. nice - something different
  11. now we all need to learn how to play nicely together, although @savage bulldogs your stirring has not gone unnoticed
  12. Right gents thread unlocked, please bear in mind the forum position
  13. I was reading the posts and did not see any derogatory comments aimed at SC or any other tuning company - A thread like this asks for peoples opinions and as such prompts debate. What I did read were statements and counter statements but nothing I would consider slating a particular product in a slanderous way just potential inaccuracies in product specs / design / manufacture. So with that in mind I will unlock the thread and the debate may continue but members all, please be aware, we as mods cannot have anything that can be considered as slanderous, leaving the forum exposed to libellous action, posted (plus all the other stuff bullying etc) and opinions on different tuning houses / products will always court contention. Non of us want a sewing circle for a forum so having a heated debate is not something I see as an issue but I would ensure statements made are accurate and factual, preferably with evidence to support, that way we all know where we stand and the locking of threads / deleting of posts is avoided.
  14. That should help sourcing some cheaper winter wheel options for XV owners then - knowing it is indeed a widely used fitment across the Subaru range
  15. These look like the rims I have on my 08 Impreza RX They are a 5 x 100 pcd 17" rim. Tyres have a smaller tyre wall than you are running on the XV, currently shod with 205 50 17's
  16. Wotcha and welcome This is the Hawk model I was looking at originally, prices have gone up in last couple of years though, might be due to all the breakers taking perfectly usable cars off the road http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-SUBARU-IMPREZA-WRX-2-5-STI-TYPE-UK-DCCD-WIDETRACK-GENUINE-46k-FULL-HISTORY-/252617265813?hash=item3ad1299295:g:lZYAAOSwcLxYGfGn. Had a quick look and can see some twinscroll STI JDM blob options for slightly less money, great pieces of kit and you could do a Hawk front end conversion for £999 (see alternate thread )
  17. ha ha - such an inconvenience, I did like the brutal sound the straight through one made but I can see living with it could be tiring
  18. Sounding great with that Cobra - awesome tone
  19. Wotcha and welcome - quite a few members on here from Scotland, feel free to get stuck in
  20. wow I would be gutted - I take it Cat 'D' means 'Destroyed"
  21. islands plus S# plus DCCD at minimum equals controlled sideways fun
