  1. a bit of washing up liquid in some water and a spray gun will be a basic tool for checking just look for bubbles - check all your clamps are done up tight and if the pipes are all original it might be worth considering replacing them with aftermarket items
  2. could be rusty bores as well... :(
  3. Try some springs from a same year legacy

  7. turned out well - they look spot on
  8. know what you mean - it is better than buying blind, there have been a couple of mint examples going through the for sale section, not the years you are after though...
  9. I would look at the selector mechanism as you suggest - if it drives fine and reverse engages straight away that is where I would focus
  10. a grand to take the engine out is a bit steep as it is quite straight forward and can be done quite quickly by experienced staff. do they mean they will be taking it out and stripping the unit down as part of the work or is that just lifting it out of the bay?
  11. that is indeed great news - you will discover what an ideal family car it can be ;)
  12. You may have to travel to get the right one but it will be worth it ;)

  15. had a clarke trolley jack for years now not let me down, good value for money £100 quid well spent - I dare say you could get second hand ones as well to save a bit http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/ctj3000g-3-tonne-professional-garage-j
  16. Wotcha and welcome!! - looking forward to seeing your motor :)

  19. Wotcha and welcome :)
  20. prety sure we have answered a fozzy sunroof question before and the states do a replacement glass roof for a lot less. I dont know if this is your model but item 9 sunroof seal retails at $46 http://www.buysubarupartsnow.com/auto-parts/2008/subaru/forester/body/roof/?trim=sports-2-5-xt&engine=2-5l-h4-gas
  21. wotcha chum - that looks like a closed deck block to me which would justify the rebuild work, good luck with the sale
