turbo boost too high
As with the other thread - if you don't know what has been done to the engine along with all the other mods you wont know if it is high or not - turning it down to be on the safe side will not be a bad thing though. When you removed the manual boost controller what did you replace it with?

What turbo...
there are a few threads on here where engine mods for more power are discussed and the short answer is it varies as dependant on what engine you have you could be looking at a full engine rebuild to cope. but supporting mods could include the pump, injectors, map, intake, exhaust, bigger TMIC or FMIC

can u take a look please.
they keep the turbo spinning on gear changes so there is overall less opposing pressure forces acting on the turbo - which is a good thing. you wont get a genuine brand new HKS for 30 quid thread on how to tell http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/5234-hks-ssqv-dump-valve-real-or-fake/

What turbo...
The prodrive kit tends to be an air filter remap and sports back box - it can also include an uprated fuel pump - the turbo would be untouched as part of that kit http://www.subarupartsstore.co.uk/product/Impreza_WRX_2.0_2001-2002_Performance_Pack_SACC2523 I would say you have a TD04 on at the moment - Gambit et al will probably be along shortly to confirm that. When you say upgrade your turbo what are you looking for as you can get an equivalent size but better quality turbo with lower resistance internals which will reduce spool up time or are you going for more power - if so there may be other options you could consider before bolting on a bigger turbo in isolation.

fuel cap
No problem - ask away we wont necessarily have relevant answers but there is always random mutterings instead ;) As we dont know the history or how it was set up being modified from standard the 1.5bar could right... The larger turbo and extra plumbing of the FMIC could impact the spool up time which will give longer lag but a bigger punch when it comes in. I would suggest a good service - plugs, oil and filter, check the air filter and brake pads & discs then you have a known starting point - I would then suggest a rolling road session to see what the current performance of the car is - not for power but to see what is working and where there needs to be focus. for instance your injectors could need cleaning, petrol pump needs replacing etc first thing though - you could share some photos - feel free to set up a new thread in the impreza section for your vehicle ;)
