  1. haha, few bags of rice should sort it :d lol
  2. Depends how it was stored, if it was damp it's gonna be a mess
  3. theres a short somewhere by the sounds of it. need to trace it through the electric system to find the fault. i had one that turned out to be the cables down near the wheel arch that stopped the dash working which stopped it charging
  4. He's totaly clueless mate, walk away and find a proper specialist. after those change its will need a map, no 'to get the best gains', it will need mapping to stop it from self destructing.
  5. Built properly will be good for another 150k, also a good excuse to have it upgraded ;) Yep, Scoobyclinic have built 2 different engines for 2 different cars, both 2.5's though. I went kinda mad second time and had a full closed deck converted 2.5 built hahaha also had heads rebuilt including new valves and valve guides from this, with a rattly crank shaft to this and that is on low boost and being held back to stop the gearbox from self destructing haha
  6. As above have you got the graphs? also how sure are you it's ppp'd?
  7. scoobyclinic are down at chesterfield so not too far from leeds, They have everything in house from servicing to mapping to engine building and a dyno so can give it a look for you im sure.
  8. Will be around £1500 + vat. who you get recommended to do it will depend on who you ask. Scoobyclinic are up at chesterfield and do all my work from servicing through to full engine builds.
  9. Do you know whats wrong with yours? could you get it rebuilt instead?
  10. Scoobyclinic sometimes have some in as well
  11. haha, yeah they do have a tendency to smoke the condensation off. doesn't sound anything to worry about
  12. Go outside and have a word with yourself in the strongest possible way,,,,,,, hahahaha Whats the interior like?
  13. White smoke is water and typically condensation in the exhaust when its cold, does it go when the car warms up?
  14. depends on what your planning to do with the car, cant imagine you'll get much change from a grand for that amount of work so not worth doing if you plan to sell. If you plan to keep it and mechanicly its spot on prob worth it, you could easily pay 2k for the same model and end up with a decent body but mechanical dog. Breaking it for parts is only a limited market, cos its none turbo engine wont be worth more then a couple of hundred and rest has limited value, may get a better offer as a whole breaker
  15. though they were normaly around £600 for a brand spanker fitted and mapped? seems pretty price for a second hand one when you add £250 RR time for mapping it your up to £700 anyway. alcatek is only £900 fitted and mapped, for £200 more i'd go alcatek, sack the maf etc etc
  16. not been for a number of years, used to go pretty regular. Never seemed to be much going on when i went
  17. have a look at alcatek, if your buggering around with piggy backs or apexi (which is donkeys years old now) then while a tad more expensive a much better option. If its had a new engine then will explain why its running like a bag of spanners, different engine, different map so i expect its never been setup properly. Sounds like you need to take it to a specialist and get them to have a look at whats what and sort out any faults it has
  18. Need to take it to a mapper that knows what there doing by the sounds of it, shouldn't be getting boost cut on a mapped car unless they have pushed it too far or has setup issues. For that sort of power then syvecs is the way to go, standard ecu won't cope, i ran my old hawk at 400 and the standard one struggled at the best of times. Don;t scrimp and risk your engine
  19. take it else where, they are clueless
  20. Depends what they say. Could just be a jet wash or could be a full strip down and rebuild. Personally I'd always go rebuild myself
  21. It's still the same old 2.5 so I would avoid pushing it too far
  22. Welcome back. Any pics?
  23. Thicker rear are will cure some of the understeer they suffer from. Just watch out for the tail end going out ;)
  24. Will be fine to leave it off. If nit try scoobyclinic at Chesterfield. They normaly have a couple of breakers in.
  25. Also try scoobyclinic at Chesterfield. Where ever you go may sure they check the pulleys and prob find it needs a tensioner (check the price cos alot of places don't include it so cheap price ends up alot higher. Should he warned when you get a quote anyway)
