rods are only good for around 400 so if its the 450 pack then will be rods as well -
They said the same back in 2012 then it turned out to be a name change (went from impreza sti to simply sti). Time will tell though becuase you never know. Subaru could do themselves a favor and just import the jap spec STI and save all the design cost for a worse car.

New car new problem, MAPPING PLEASE HELP

Ah so private sale then :( After actually having it i'd go down the advised route, closed deck conversion, forged pistons, uprated rods, head studs etc means you can tune to 500bhp+ later if you want. As far as the comment about liners, done right it will be considerably stronger but at higher cost than close deck conversion, its alot more technically challenging to get right and even when done right can still have issues with them dropping slightly with heat cycles. That said closed decking needs to be done correctly as well, seen some right dodgy jobs done, PVD were shocking at it and effectively just banging the insert in leaving gaps around it, might explain why they went under. The block needs machining so the inserts are a tight fit or they wont support the block walls properly, then the block faced so its a smooth surface or the headgasket just get blown out. -
In case folks aren't aware I have sold my Type R and hawk wagon and two weeks ago i picked up my new car. I wasn't gonna be without a subaru of course :D So here's the new one. It's a 2007 WRX STI Limited. It's based on a eurospec Spec D STI but is 1 of only 25 RHD produced and imported into the UK. UK spec D is a more subtle STI, same drive train, engine brakes and suspension but with front fogs, leather interior, silver wheels, no roof spoiler and low level spoiler (WRX spoiler), also only come in silver. STI limited is closer to a spec D than normal STI, but it has black painted brembo's, later revision engine and gearbox, A line lip spoiler and S204 black centre console. Car has 63k on it and i found out i know the old owner who has really looked after it so well chuffed. It's already had a couple of mods, Remapped to 340bhp 370ftlb, perrin belt cover and back/rear window tints. So far I've had a few things done, full detail and ceramic laqure applied, pedders suspension, Uprated drop links all round, rear anti roll bar, front castor kit (also acts as an anti lift kit) and braided brakes lines and a sony DAB headunit. Not really planning to do huge amounts to this one but prob do a few cosmetic things like wheel refurb, maybe throw a few more dress up bits at it.

If you bought it from a garage then you DO have recourse to take it back and get them to repair it, although i would be pushing for your money back as i doubt they will pay for a full build. Would be my first port of call. -
what does the vin plate say? Odd coloured ones do pop up now and again

always eliminate leaks first just in case, also do a sniff test before you start on the engine, should tell you if the gaskets gone or not -

Go through and check all the hoses first, 50ml every 400 miles won't be very obvious, look for dried coolant residue -
That's interesting, check out 06-07 sti vs 08, sti in 06-07 was highest bracket, hatch dropped to one below. 06/07 STI - C02 = 257 08 STI - C02 = 243 08 STI 330s - C02 = 270-281

Won't always throw up codes, that's why you need a specialist. My car had a misfire but no codes and turned out to be a duff leed.
