  1. Reality is either 1 or 2 is fine, 2 is better than 1. Problem comes when you give it large prior to letting it warm up properly. Bear in mind oil takes alot longer than water to warm up
  2. Ah fair enough, if it was weekend toy a classic R or RA would be best, but daily def a new age. and 11k should get you a nice blob JDM or spec c. look for the later one 04/05 so has the widetrack and personaly think nicer interior. If you can stretch the budget a bit then this one would be the one to go for, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2005-SUBARU-IMPREZA-JDM-STI-DCCD-WIDETRACK-IMPORT-/192034363516?hash=item2cb623d87c:g:ekAAAOSwux5YNC4P
  3. not the only one ;) Think its cos its a subject we are passionate about.
  4. Drive it for a few miles steady (make sure its up to temp before giving it beans, may take longer than you think ;) ). Sitting idling doesn't allow all fluids to warm up evenly by circulating (gearbox, diff fluid).
  5. Personally i'd look 04/05, updated interior so same as hawk. But lets go back a step, is it a daily or a weekend toy? o also whats your budget?
  6. lmao :D
  7. 2.0 are fine on the main, 2.5 swapped to crappy pistons as well as some other shortcuts, such as head studs, map etc. but not everyone one fails. It's just a higher percentage than other engine types get I hear lots of reasons for failure sprouted on the 2.5's but simply put i don't think there is a single cause, some blow head gaskets, some blow ring lands. standard and moded 2.5's fail, block flexing etc etc but there doesn't seem to be a hard or fast rule. just case of your lucky or unlucky.
  8. Allot of cash for what it is. Blob spec c would be my choice around that sort of money
  9. Welcome. Right on engine tuners doorstep as well, bonus
  10. ' I'm unsure what you think clinic do so magical clinic do nothing to them, apart from post them to people clinic spec cheep sell at ridiculous mark up, because you can buy any Blouch you like online considerably Cheeper too .. ' You just said you can buy them off blouch is website, so they must be identical yet you also say they arn't identical, your contradicting yourself. How can you buy something when it isn't there? lmao The compressor wheel pic is in that SN thread, its a garret turbo with a custom wheel, you can actually see the difference. But you didn't bother to look did you. I really don't get what your trying to prove other than your stupidity of arguing about something your googling, if you were around when they first came out and been around the development of them you'd know a darn sight more. So to put an end to the whole argument, Yes you can buy blouch turbo's direct from blouch. Can you buy them in the spec of the SC series, no you can't. It's as simple as that. You can buy cheaper turbos, but you wont get the same performance. Next you'll be claiming a syvecs is the same as an alcateh i expect pmsl
  11. lol, i cant be arsed with it anymore tbh. Make sure you get correct info what ever you decide. Im outa here
  12. So look whats arrived :D
  13. lmao, really? your going to look at a picture as say 'ah yes their the same' supose you think a vf30, vf34 and a vf35 are the same in that case hahaha see they look the same so must be the same turbo lol When you get bored you can have a read of their development, what worked and what didn't on this thread, because not ever incarnation did. http://www.scoobynet.com/trader-announcements-363/799025-scoobyclinics-turbos-just-got-billet-i-mean-better.html You can even see the billet turbine is a different shape, not just billet on the picture of the two garret turbos side by side. You need to get your facts straight before you start firing off.
  14. Not really sure where you get your info from kershaw but it's not accurate, the the sc turbos arnt off the shelf blouch units. They are based on them but then modified to clinics spec.
  15. Didn't take it that way so no worries, was more a comment as to the difference :) How much you want to spend very much depends on budget and what you want from it.
  16. Blouch made, custom billet design core Slight differences can make a massive difference to performance.
  17. Not the same turbo. Sc are clinic specific.
  18. Haha no mate. Rare as rocking horse poo second hand as well :(
  19. Welcome
  20. My old 2006 2.5wrx suffered ring land failure at 60k. Standard car with full service history. I bought it with engine built to my spec in it. He drove it 400 miles after it started running funny and mashed the whole engine.
  21. Standard 2.5 block will run 450 reliably so closed decking is a tad ott. Rebuilt with decent pistons, rods headstuds, gaskets and rebuild. Plenty of turbos in that range. So depends how much you wanna spend. Personal choice would be sc36. Will run 360 and spool like a rocket. Need fuel pump and injectors plus inlet pipe. Be cracking on the road with that spec
  22. hehe yeah tis a good one.
  23. I run a volvo v50 diesel as a daily and then my type R as a weekend toy, run two cars for years this way. Best of both. I switched to an M3 to use as a single car and just found it dull and boring and 6 months later swapped it for the Type R.
