Cooling system problem on my hatch
Why was the rad replaced? Where you getting overheating issues before? That happening in such a short space of time it not good and you may have a head gasket failure. You can get sludge with certain types of coolant, so fist point of call is thoroughly flush and refill. Monitor closely and hope its just the type of coolant. Check your oil on dipstick and filler cap. No other symptoms?

Thats cool no worries. Were you accelerating moderately or hard when the issue started? In the good light, first thing to check is all the hoses are where they should be ie no open ended ones not connected to something. This includes the small vacuum hoses and the bigger one between the turbo and the intercooler. Just have a really good poke around. There is a chance the turbo is toast but you said you can hear it spooling? The white smoke is hopefully condensation if your running from cold start. Should disappear fairly quick like steam rather than hanging around like smoke. Hopefully someone here might jump in with more thoughts.- Modifications on my Subaru Wrx Sti saloon 2012
The scoop is cool, was thinking about getting mine done but a bit more outrageous lol. If you saw the other side of my motor you'd know Im a big fan of a sticker All looks good for sure.- Mapping Problems continued UPDATE
Did the 'mapper' give you any sort of graphs for power, boost or fueling? Is it a well known specialist mapper?- Will

Very nicely done! The spoiler really does make a big difference and the others compliment it all perfectly, I really like it- What have you done to your Subaru today ?
So I am a very happy Subaru owner at the moment! Been on the rollers and everything is as it should be. Car is running sweeeet and making the power. Circa 90,000 miles covered and running stock boost I ran it again after with a mod but running a little lean on the primary and hit the fuel cut on secondary but looked solid so back some other time to trim it out and will easy get 300bhp top end and loads more bottom end torque.- What have you done to your Subaru today ?
I think this would be more homely- New WRX, Finally got myself a turbo!
Looks really nice! Cant beat boost I like the contrast tbh. Anything else been done?- 06 R Sport engine knock
So the most likely causes seem to be...... Dirty/old air filter Map revision from Subaru - hopefully your local dealer will shed some light Fuel - run out as close you can then fill with some V-Power and give it a thrash see what happens Maf issue - needs a good clean. Non of above will break the bank either- What did you come from, what do you have now?
@auckyThats such a waste- What did you come from, what do you have now?
@aucky I miss my XR2 so much but have you seen how much a decent one cost these days!?- 06 R Sport engine knock
Hey Phil The end going would be noticeable at all temps but more so in the low-mid rev range. If you rev the engine up slowly when warm with no knocking its not the bearings likely to be gone. Not sure about a patch from Subaru, maybe another member can comment on that. Maf cleaning is easy so you can always do that yourself with little expense. If youve only changed the oil in the last 16K you could look at other simple service items like fuel filter, (not sure when due), air filter, plugs etc all can make a surprising difference. Try some injector cleaning additives, Wynns from Halfords is good. Just some simple inexpensive good things to get you started. Hopefully someone else can help with more specifics to your model.- What did you come from, what do you have now?
Good thread. Firstly Kudos for having a 156 that served you well for 13 years lol. The Subaru is my 36th car. I wont bore you with everything but some highlights are MK1 Golf GTI 2.0 with NOS, 4 Volvo T5's/R's, Saab 95 Aero, Jag XJR V8 Supercharged, 3 Nissan GTIR's, BMW 540i, Vectra V6 Turbo and my current Jag 4.2 V8. Several track cars, Alfa 145 and 2 306 GTI 6's. The Leggy came about because of a need for a Jap manual turbo, an itch if you will. Wanted this car many years ago but couldnt afford the insurance. Now at 36 its not so much of an issue Interesting you mention the sound system. I need a new system, my Leggy has the Jap speaking lady original system that doesnt pick up English stations. Plays most CD's though lol. I have been looking at several options after my gf bought her Seat with an Alpine touchscreen all singing all dancing system which I love.- What have you done to your Subaru today ?
I just get too tempted when I see things like that! cars not bad either Seriously though if I had the space thats exactly what Id be looking for.- What have you done to your Subaru today ?
