What did you come from, what do you have now?

In 2000 I got my first new car, an Alfa 156 2.0 TS. This served me well for 13 years and had a neighbour not driven into the side of it and written it off, very unlikely I'd be posting here today.

After thinking what to get and whether I should get another car I decided on a 59 plate BMW 325I coupe. Really liked this but in 2015 due to a change in personal circumstances was able to go for a car I'd always hankered after, a TVR. So after a few months of searching, settled for a TVR Griffith.

Picked this up in May 2015 but due to it being incompatible with me, had to sell it one month later. [emoji20]

After having a TVR I wanted something exclusive and the GT86 seemed to meet the criteria. But better still, there were 10 times less BRZs, so this is how I ended up with one.

Mine is the MY16 WR Blue Mica SE LUX. Optional extras were rear parking sensor, mats and side fin blades.

Choice of sound system was between "bad" or pay more for "not exactly what I want" so I went with bad and got a Pioneer aftermarket system fitted that has Bluetooth, satnav and DAB (which was the thing not present in the manufacturers option).

Over to you....

Good thread.

Firstly Kudos for having a 156 that served you well for 13 years lol.

The Subaru is my 36th car.  I wont bore you with everything but some highlights are MK1 Golf GTI 2.0 with NOS, 4 Volvo T5's/R's, Saab 95 Aero, Jag XJR V8 Supercharged, 3 Nissan GTIR's, BMW 540i, Vectra V6 turbo and my current Jag 4.2 V8.  Several track cars, Alfa 145 and 2 306 GTI 6's.

The Leggy came about because of a need for a Jap manual turbo, an itch if you will. Wanted this car many years ago but couldnt afford the insurance.  Now at 36 its not so much of an issue

Interesting you mention the sound system.  I need a new system, my Leggy has the Jap speaking lady original system that doesnt pick up English stations.  Plays most CD's though lol.  I have been looking at several options after my gf bought her Seat with an Alpine touchscreen all singing all dancing system which I love.

Previous car was a 2007 low mileage Honda S2000 (fantastic car, just too small), 2014 Audi A6 S-Line (stupid knee jerk purchase and although it had all the extras, was as boring as chuff to drive) and previous to that 2008 LandRover Discovery 3 (great car, just like driving an arm chair wherever, whenever and is at home in a field similar to a fancy hotel).

Current vehicle 2014 WRX STi new shape, best car I've had since my 1996 Prodrive turbo 2000, 20 years ago :-)

2001 VW Passat TDI was my first car and a real money pit. Every single common fault with that body/engine happened to mine, got rid of that for a R plate 2.0 petrol Vauxhall Vectra which was dull but reliable. Didn't own that for too long as I was bored and got a BMW E39 528i. was an awesome motor and was sweet as could be when I sold it with 160000 miles on it to buy a BMW E60 530d  a good car but being diesel I eventually got bored. Currently own a 1997 Impreza STI V4 import. I also own what I would say is the most comfortable, smoothest and easiest car to work on and of the cars I have owned it has the most toys out of all of them even though it is the oldest car I've ever owned and that is a P plated Mercedes W140 S320 Limo.

My first car was a mini ( 1987 mini advantage 1.0) and the rest (not in any particular order): I've had most of the ford range, 4 fiestas (inc 3 XR2is), 4 escorts (inc 2 cabbys), a couple of sierras, a focus, puma and a sportka; a 1990 gen 5 celica GTi, vw lupo, an AX GT (fantastic and terrifying at the same time) and a Saxo VTR, a Nissan micra, and now a 2003 WRX. Most have been modified to some extent, except the micra (11 plate, not the funky bubble ones), that was just soul destroying. I've probably forgotten a couple too.

As people are listing previous cars, I'll complete my car ownership list. First car was a 1976 Mk 2 Capri. It wasn't a particularly good example, but ran it 1988-1994. During this time had reconditioned engine, gearbox, clutch, exhaust, alternator and about 10 starting motors. I don't think there were many mechanical parts not replaced, this was almost Trigger's broom in car form.

Next up was a 1987 Ford Orion 1.6i Ghia and then a 1992 Ford Orion 1.8lxi before my Alfa in 2000. Current garage is the BRZ, the A6 and a Dodge Journey.

Hmm last count I'm on my 28th car so won't list em all lol .

1st car was mk1 escort 1300e with full Burton 1760cc race engine, twin carbs ,branch manifold ect ...It ate gearboxes and spun the wheels in 3rd in the dry and wish I still had it [emoji30]

Mk1 Scriocco gti ,used to hydroplane in the wet [emoji33]

Mk1 astra gte and a few cav sri's

Renault 5 gt turbo running about 180hp ,although it was dangerous it was proppa fun and I with I still had it [emoji57]

Last motor before the scoobies was a v6 3ltr 24v omega engined vectra b which wouldn't move in the snow (hence the switch to 4wd scoobs)

Thought I'd add a couple of the worst ones ....

Renault 11 1400cc drove like a underpowered boat.

1960's mini van the 850 cc engine lasted 3 hrs ,so I dropped a 1300cc metro lump in it the same afternoon I bought it.

Mg maestro ,yeah I know but it was only £125 and it had 6 months tax 'n ticket

Currently the 94 v1sti and the 1300 cdti combo work van, which almost makes running the scoob carbon neutral due to its economy [emoji4]

If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊

Citreon berlingo van 1.9 NA (current daily)

E36 318i bought for £150 with blown head gasket ongoing project still sat on the drive

The scoob is only car number 2 for me, before this was a 2010 Suzuki swift that I still have and is being converted to a track car!! [emoji16]

And with the Subaru I also own a nice shiny 2002 Suzuki GSXR 600 for a bit of 2 wheeled fun!!

Well seeing as everyone else is offering up their car history and there are some interesting wheels some have purchased here are mine. Baring in mind I'm a musician and have always needed to lug about a drum kit, its not been a very sporty history of vehicles

First up is Toad my Austin Morris Sherpa 2.0 petrol 4 speed with a steering box and brake drums all round !

75fMZTr.png

Then came a disAstravan Mk1 1.7D  (Not even a turbo) so a real slug.

pXaVqR1.png

Then comes disAstravan Mk3. Originally a 1.7TD. This one I put 100K miles on then decided to customise it. Redtop 2.0, brakes, respray, bodykit, bonnet bulge :) Stainless etc etc

896CIeb.jpg

diAstravan Mk4.....bit of a theme going on here .  This one came as is with the headlight conversion, spoilers and alloys etc

sK920wX.jpg

Up sized to a Vito 2.2TD and I vowed to make it look a little different.  Very rare Finnish bodykit, alloys, lowering springs, big brakes, stainless etc

QgjPFbf.jpg

Upgraded to one of the very fist VW T5's.  2.5TD LWB T32 (Well before there where ANY UK firms customising them) I saw it at the London motor show in 2006 and it had every conceivable extra apart from a sunroof. ABT body kit and 19 alloys, lowering springs, Quad stainless, Chipped to 205BHP (Audi 5 pot). Mega sound system, TV's etc etc. Even left the lary graphics on it for a while :)

siCWDHC.jpg

I was 42 when I bought my first car !  It looked nice but was a bag of #*#* . From birth it had ongoing electrical gremlins and was a joke in the snow

RbWb5Et.jpg

As we had a few successive bad winters and I then lived at the foot of the Pennine's this called for some AWD action. Enter the Subaru Forester XTen 2,5 Boxer. An uprated rear ARB, sports grille and a set of winter tyres and wheels had me on drama free all year round

ZlaG7uv.jpg

Having sold the XT to a mate and instantly regretting it I went in search of another. Couldn't find one but happened on this fella. 2006 pre facelift Legacy Spec B Tourer.  I had this until Dec 2017 of which in almost 100k miles only a headlight bulb and Battery failed     THE best vehicle I have ever owned. Great performance and handling and put a smile on my face every time I drove it.

Tg8vfzU.jpg

Whilst owning the Legacy I had a dabble with a JDM vehicle. Subaru's Forester STI.  Originally a Lichfield import so power up to 330BHP and forged internals. A beast in all respects and one I took to the track for the first time

9lWMg5d.jpg

After selling the STI to fund a house move and then selling the Spec B last Dec I ended up with this barge on wheels. Nice place to be inside with all the tech you could want but a rather dull driving experience

wvcrZ26.jpg

And finally my new 2017 facelift BRZ
