  1. Hi Guys Been off here for a while but missed the best place for advice. I want to swap my stock 5spd gearbox on my 1999 turbo for a 5spd that can handle around 460BHP max as the Turbo im looking to put on will be pushing 450BHP max. Any gearboxes off the newer scoobys that would fit? Cheers Larry
  2. Guys, am having transmission issues with my Subaru Impreza GH3 2008 model which is a manual Transmission. When shifting from gear 2 to gear 3, it kinda get stuck somewhere in between especially when am on high RPM's and slip off when i release the clutch. In short am usually forced to put it in slowly motion for it to engage. What could me the issue here and it happens only with gear no. 3. I have tried to search online, but answers coming up are change the gearbox oil, adjusting the cables etc. your help will be much appreciated.
  3. Subaru legacy estate 2003/4 MT 5speed, When turning right or left into parking space when car is fully up to temp , knocking sound as wheels go round smooth then knock about 3 times per wheel revolution, Forward and backward, question could this be CV joints or Viscious Coupling , she has covered 119K and not ben driven by a boy racer. sound is coming from front as you can feel it in the steering wheel and from wheel side if you place hand on side wall. Question, could both CVs tend to fail together, Gearbox oil is clear when on stick, drained fully, murky in apearence and very dark, will change this today ? Any thoughts ? John

  6. A couple of weeks ago, I had an immobilizer issue with my 1999 Forester (automatic), and it was stuck in 'Park' and couldn't be started. I called for someone to come and take it to the garage, and it was a rainy evening so I didn't stick around. I found the next day that they'd come with a flatbed truck, and when I asked how they got it out of Park, they said "Oh, we didn't... we had to drag it onto the truck". Coincidence, or not but since then, the car seems skittish on corners (especially in the wet), and prone to wheel spin. The manual warns that putting the car on a two-wheel rolling road could damage the AWD system, so this made me wonder if dragging the car could do the same? Thanks, Rod
  7. Hi I have just had a big problem occur in my 1997 subaru impreza turbo 2000 around 130k miles on the clock, had a recent engine rebuild but no receipts to prove it I have pics of under the car after taking off the plastic cover and here are the symptoms... Heard a loud crunch while driving about 25 mph changing into 3rd gear, then a very loud clicking sound, i pulled up immediately thinking it was either my gearbox or clutch, possibly even the front diff, if this car has one, got a tow home. when the car was tested again about 3 days later it sound great when sitting with the engine on but as soon as you start to drive off there is a loud clicking/ scraping noise, the car struggles to get into gear and appears to be jumping every 20 yards, not sure if it is trying to get into reverse but it sure feel like it. anyway after a few yards I drove it home and not touched it since. have noticed oil leaking from what appears to be under the turbo but I think this is just because the cover diverts the oil to this area, gearbox oil seem to be nearly empty but honestly don't know how to fill this up, cant find any cap to pop oil into it but what is there seem to be very clean if not brand new, There seems to be no oil on the bottom of turbo so i guess the oil that is leaking seems to be coming from what looks like the power steering column? but doesn't explain the problems with the gears. all liquids seem fine. oil is a little black but no bits or other substance in it, coolant is coolant only no sllme also Pics of under the car below
