Cheers for all the help lads feel more confident on going down to check it out now knowing what to look for to a certain extent, seems it's overdue an oil change if last service was 93000, may get them to change it before heading back. I dont think it's anything other than the age of it an they're the type of car people like to drive like theyve stole them stuartie, did ya mean what motor or scoob specialist? No car here mate, the car I'm seein is in bury, on paper everything seems spot on full Subaru history new cam belt water pump, new toyo tyres 1 owner, looks a tidy motor no sign of rust through mot check. So gonna head down tommorow mornin with a bit of luck come back latest member of the crew Haha. It's from a dealer wonder if they'll have warranty on it.

Yeah should have taken heed siluro, it was just the what's that it's done 109000 miles well you'll need to be rebuilding that engine soon😵 say what now? Got any pics of the motor mate? They certainly turn heads just by the sound, I've wanted one since I was a kid must admit.

Rosscosm I know it's not the only out their but I think in my mind I've already bought it🤣

What oil do these motors run?

Go to Opie oils and put reg in. You get a discount for being a forum member. Last batch cost me £50 including filter.

Cheers mate spot on👍

Typed in number plate found the car clicked on figment details an Subaru ain't on the list? This is on every oil it brought up for the car

Fitment not figment

Opie oils will advise you if you ask. I use Motul 8100 5w-40 Fully Synthetic. Car takes 4.3 liters approx. 2 liter maybe different.

I use 10w40 mate but used to used shell helix 5w40 from euro car parts with no issues was like £20 with there online discount lol

both 5w and 10w are acceptable just ensure they are decent oils - JASO API certified etc plus we get discount at OPIE oils so as well as pointing you in right direction you can get some money off

Well what a day set off later than I'd of liked got down their just before dark 4hrs later thinkin this better be good! An it was bodies pretty much mint, some  rust flaking on the housing for the springs/shocks, decent inside clean an not warn, checked everything I could think. Only thing i didnt check in was exp tank should their be should be rad fluid in their right? Checked around no sign of spills. So I took it an what a motor! First drive of one definately didnt disappoint, got lost on the way back but didnt mind lmao totally different class to anything I've driven handlings top notch👌 an goes some too, went easy on way back mostly, never had any problems whatsoever, stuck to 75 on motorway an you.know what mileage wasnt as bad as I thought cost me about 50 quid t get back👍 just one thing I've noticed in 2nd if ya let off the gas it sorta whines, is that normal?

Nice motor siluro looks a minter

Nice one mate glad your enjoying it that’s probably just the transmission whining it is a bit louder than most cars. Enjoy it mate 👍

Nice one. Glad you like it. As RossCosm said the transmission does whine a little especially in the lower gears all normal. The MPG on a run like you said 75mph it will do high 20s, it when you drive round town it dives to low 20s.

Anything I can spray on their to preserve it?

You could clean it up with a wire brush then wax oil or something. But it’s very common again so don’t worry. So much so that subaru make a replacement panel. Mines is the exact same if not worse man

I would concentrate on getting any fluid changes or belts done if it requires any or you have no record. Things like cam belt(already done), diff oil, gearbox oil, brake fluid, coolant etc. Fill in any service gaps first then worry about the cosmetics. Then stick to the service schedule without failure.

Def have a look at getting that cleaned up an wax or something on their, good to know it wont be pricey would it be difficult to get at? Been looking through receipts tonight brake pads an fluid were done this year.. havent got through it all yet kids are pecking thy head🙄. What do yous reckon of click mechanic?

  • Author

Good point though siluro, whatever's not been done recently get onto it👍 managed to get insured for 400 quid today my own insurance quoted me 1800🤣

Getting rad out is simple. One of the easiest jobs. Good insurance quote.

Click mechanic. What's that?

  • Author

Click mechanics a website that puts you in touch  with local mechanics sort of like trust a trader all reviewed an what not been lookin at gettin someone out to service it says the lads got suby exp so might go for it this time as dont have the gear to Jack it up an what not 145 quid full service

Personally I don't like the sound of that but it could be fine. If i can do it myself i will in the street. No garage, hopefully that will change soonish. For £145 You could buy a jack etc and never pay anyone for oil change again. Plus you know it has been done properly.
