  1. It's used for about 30 second during cold start to do with emission. full description here, http://www.subaru4you.co.uk/how/how6.shtml It's pretty crap as it gets water in it which causes rust and such making the system fail. At that point most folks remove it, but it has to be done correctly so the butterfly's in valves are removed so they don't fail in the wrong position or you risk cocking up your afr's down the line. So it's ot as simple as just mapping it out.
  2. Secondary air system, Not sure why they just didnt remove the whole system and blank t at the block, which is the normal way to do it.
  3. Why not aftermarket? with the right selection they can be a great improvement over the standard ones.
  4. i always thought they did, but google shows no 04's with them but 03's did. you learn summit new every day 🙂
  5. The daily fail predicts the next winter will be the worst in history every year hahaha funny thing is the one year it is they will be all over it saying we told you so,,, haha
  6. they were built well back then, also alot cheaper so could afford to spend a bit on spare parts etc
  7. 2.0 non turbo petrol, https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/forester/2005-55-subaru-forester-2-0-xe-5d-158-bhp/10315280 something like that, but i'd go with a manual myself.
  8. It's the same with everything you buy, from a pair of socks to a house

    Nasty

From the vid just looks like he went round the bend to fast and ran wide, went to pull back left and !Removed! stepped out and then bang, although don't think that would have made any difference to the outcome. Don't see any warning signs to say sharp left bend unless they are further back. As said doesn't look blind. No mallace in what he did, he just got it wrong, not that it takes away from what happened.
  10. https://www.carscoops.com/2020/01/the-subaru-!Removed!-edition-isnt-the-!Removed!-wagon-youd-expect/ fpmsl, apparently this is actualy true, although im a tad sceptical myself
  11. Don;t know them tbh
  12. i'd find out who built the engine as a starting point
  13. I;d put it back on ebay, flexy is a big no Scoobyclinic is over at chesterfield.
  14. No way to know till it's in and you get it on a dyno to check afr's. Given it has a cat back already I suspect it may push it too far on the stock map.
  15. Haha, yeah they are pretty funny. Then a sherp turns up and does it easy haha
  16. tbh i think half the fun of it is whatching them go up lol
  17. andy forest called him dung khan, he made a right mess of piggsniffers car (member on here) and has bad working practises, not road testing cars, rushing maps, by passing failed sensors that should be fixed before mapping etc i wouldn't trust him to map my toaster.
  18. How many remember tractor pulling? please sir, can i have my engine back,,, hahahaha
  19. I dont I'm afraid, whether any of the others do im not sure. when did he last log in?
  20. I use scoobyclinic up at chesterfield for all my work including mapping
  21. welcome
  22. Total waste of money, just drive it the last few miles steady off boost and you'll do a far better job of preserving it mechanicly. Just sat idle doesnt make all the fluids circulate, whoever advised you to get one really doesn't know what they are talking about, wasnt a facebook group was it?.
  23. Shall see what develops with this, cos im sure thats not the state it left clinic in as i know where, how and who builds ever engine that comes out of clinic and i don't believe he would even entertain considering that, let alone actualy do it. For comparison, some pics of my engine mid build on this thread with surface faces visible, every engine they build is done in the same way, same machine shop does the block prep work.
  24. im wondering if its got the origional built engine in as i know who built it and the spec and it was pretty epic.
  25. tbh i would seriously consider shelving the 2.5 and going the 2.33 proper closed deck route then. Sounds like its gonna get a pretty hard life so even closed decked the 2,5 still has relatively thin walls on the bores
