  1. looks too short for that, let me speak to the garage tomorrow and see if hers has one like it.
  2. looks possibly the shape of a jack? did it come witha can of foam instead of a spare? If my wifes was here i could have a look, but its up at the garage.
  3. Got any pics? can also put your vin in here and it should give you soime more info, https://legacypic.uk
  4. Clinic do all my work, had several engines in several cars from them, wouldnt go anywhere else 😄 They do have a fairly long time frame, 3 months ish, but worth the wait. As far as replacement, the 2.5 is known for doing HG in stock form, so a replacement could well suffer the same issues, which then leads you down the rebuild route. As far as spec goes, as said, really depends on what you want and budget. Past 3 builds i've had, my old type r, current sti hawk and the wifes are all basiclyh the same spec, closed deck converted forged 2.5's. iot's my personal prefered choice but as i mentioend, not cheap. Best bet would be give them a ring for a chat and discuss options, outline prices etc Some more info and pics of mine.
  5. hate to say it but if you posted saying your headgasket had gone i would have said you will need a full rebuild including full bottom end. my wifes forester did the headgasket a couple of months back, option was to do the bottom end or not. in the end we decided yes to the bottom end, sure enough when it was stripped they found problems with the crank being scored, worn bearings etc etc would have failed pretty quick if it was just the headgaskets done. You need to decide what your gonna do longer term, are you planning on keeping the car? if so, its then a case of decided what you want from it, are you wanting to go for more power? a rebuild will be done the same way, but the spec of the parts going in will change. You also wont know exactly what condsition the engine is untill its stripped and assessed.Worst case the block could be destined for the skip. Then its gonna be looking at if your budget will run to it. The engine being built for my wife's forester is speced to run 500bhp and is north of £10k, spec being closed deck converted 2.5, nitrided crank, uprated rods and pistons, uprated heads incluidiong valves, valve springs etc etc etc the list is about 2 pages long, it's also high due to the old block and crank being toast, in fact i think the only thing left from the origional engine is the head castings lol

not sure, only replacements ive seen are the same single button. Theres a chap on facebook called subaru rkey replacement uk or something like that, seems to have lots of good review and might be able to at least advise if its possible to convert it.
  11. get some pics up and what sort of money your looking for, may help.
  12. they are different shape on the arch, not sure about the mounting points (i would guess they are the same but im not sure)
  13. haha, welcome back 😄
  14. have you tried importcarparts?
  15. it's the washer jet cover i think, just as an example https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/205044437045?chn=ps&_ul=GB&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1W3C0KZ6XTJe4XT-Bjxyxug0&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-173151-921626-2&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=205044437045&targetid=2407181292431&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1006886&poi=9191192&campaignid=22444727999&mkgroupid=179474130633&rlsatarget=pla-2407181292431&abcId=10267179&merchantid=118945996&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlMfABhCWARIsADGXdy9fleo4cK-iGrgwoaAelZPMcUhtrhTBQxpJFkf42g-5TnhGZeYCqG0aAgCEEALw_wcB
  16. Just remember, not all xt's are what they appear 😉 lol admitedly its currently being rebuilt, but its basicly higher than sti spec performance wise haha

https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=215-50r17-205-70r15 acording to that your talking a hit on speddo ready of about 2mph at 70mph, not sure if it will fit direct, tbh might be worth a call to a company like wheelbase who deals with loads of alloys and see if they know, i suspect they will know though.
  18. My parents decided they wanted to get a new car (They have bought a new crosstrek, i'll try and get some pics of it), they've had a couple of XV's for the past 10 years, their first was run off the road (muppet didnt slow for heavy traffic on the m69 and ran into the back of them) luckily they were fine, their xv, not so much, boot floor was bent so it was written off, they got another new XV in 2017 and have had that till now. WIth the purchase of a new crosstrek, which is just an xv of course, there old one was gonna be traded in, but given our daily !Removed! ford focus was starting to show its age (few rust patches) we decided to have the XV. So here it is, its a 2017 2.0 petrol, 6 speed manual subaru XV. It's currently totaly standard, but not sure how long that will last,,,,,, lol
  19. Given the poor quality footage i really dont see how it can be identified unless there is other footage? almost looks like an is200 to me but its so poor qulity it could indeed be a scoob. tbh i expect you'd be best getting hold of one and try rotating the lights to see if its physicaly possible.
  20. tbh if you take away the turbo they are pretty bullet proof. could see about getting it smart repaired or if your not that bothered justa touch up pot/pen. I find the standard brakes are pretty pish except the sti brembo ones.
  21. As long as you arnt ripping off members its all good 🙂
  22. TBH subaru has never been a big seller in the uk, they arn't exactly customer focused like most other brands, my parents just picked up their brand new crosstrek a few weeks back and the choice's they had to make to select it were very limited, limited colour availability even from the very small options lisy, only 2 trim levels (which is basicly cloth and no sunroof or leather seats and sunroof) and only cvt gearbox creates a very limited customer base. Don't get me wrong, the crosstrek is a very nice car, its just from a customer experiance its you get what you get.
  23. Afraid i can't help either, they are a pretty rare animal
  24. Well sheet, sadly had an overheating incident and now its been looked at had the bad news that its done the headgasket (was suspected to have done so before being stripped), engine was origionaly built 9 years ago so its done pretty well give the age and power its running. Engines been pulled and stripped, headgasket gone on cylinder 1 and 4. Block bores are out of round (common on a 2.5), it's already been bored before so sadly its going in the bin. Crank is scored due to debris so is also going in the bin. Then the usual typical stuff found when an engine is stripped such as valve guides are worn, crack in one of the cam sprockets and general wear and tare to be expected from the age and milage of the engine. After a bit of discussion about options and longer term plans to keep ther car or not been decided to basicly go balls deep on the rebuild lol I supose since its me was always gonna be that way haha. spec will be, (includes a few replacement parts that were showing their age such as the oil pan, coolant pipes etc) New EJ 257 Block halves Closed decking of engine block Re-bore and all cylinders to 99.75mm Mahle forged piston set Forged connecting rod set ACL Race main bearing set ACL Race connecting rod bearing set OE Nitrided crankshaft Oil pump Water pump Thermostat 8x GSC Manganese exhaust valve guides plus fitting 8x Intake valves 8x Exhaust valves 1x Valve lifter bucket 2x RCM Uprated head gaskets 1x 3 bolt up-pipe to header gasket 1x Down pipe gasket R/H inner timing cover R/H Exhaust camshaft sprocket ( RCM Aluminium upgrade sprockets recommended ) Complete timing belt kit Heater coolant return pipe EGT Thermocouple Rear crankcase breather pipe Top balance pipe centre return hose Oil pan Oil filter Engine oil Coolant Zinc plated bolt and bracket set The coolant hose’s will need replacing due to degradation on both options. Phew thats some list. As usual theres a fair que for the engine builds up at clinic so gonna be a few months till we get it back.
