  1. Sounds like an Air lock. Scoobs are notoriuos for these. Switch the car on and then switch the heater in the cabin on. Check heater is air is warm/hot? If not its more than likley ann airlock. To clear this, when the car is cold, remove the top radiator hose and fill the system from here rather than the header tank as this is where the air lock is generated. fill up till the water is at the top of the hose. With the top hose loose, run the car up to temp and the thermostat will open and water will start to flow out the top hose. At this point reconnect the top hose and now top the engine up through the header tank. Bear in mind this is an EXPANSION tank and will only be full of water when the car is up to temp.
  2. Rather than skimming the flywheel why not get a lightened one fitted while the clutch is out, I had an Exedy fitted to my classic and it made a noticeable difference in engine response.
  3. As far as I am aware the bugeye has a re mappable ECU and if previous owner had already had it mapped you won't have to pay for the licence as that's been paid for already. £300 sounds about right for just a mapping session without paying for the licence. If I want to remap my 08STI I have to pay £500 for the licence, as it's not been done before except by dealer who has the codes anyway,
  4. Someone pointed me to this system. http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/werkstat-acrylic-kit-cat1.html Means you don't need a da, however it looks more like a stage further towards the end of the process. Or it's for aftercare of a detailing. I've some cash aside to get the bonnet blown over due to stone chips and need to get a cple of scrapes sorted as well. I could ask them to give it a mop as well then I can start with the protection. There was me thinking I can just buy some wax a DA and off we go this more confusing the more I look into it.
  5. This is getting complicated :) thinking I might just wash, polish and gloss protect for now and then get it detailed for Japfest in May.
  6. Right this weekend I want to have a go at waxing the car. Bear in mind I'm not a pro and will not be doing an 18 stage ph neutrlising 25 bucket method wash :D My plan is: Snow foam. Alloy wheel foam. Wash Dry Meguiars quik detail and claybar. Wash Dry Autoglym super resin polish Autoglym gloss protection. Then wax. I was looking at some of the wax's and they all mention a priming stage before using them. I was only going to get a sample of Dodo juice as its enough for 4 cars :) The next question is I am looking at a DA http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/shop/kestrel-das6-dual-action-machine-polisher.html and wondered if this one is any good? its not going to be used every day prob only 3 or 4 times a year. ta :)

  10. You can't remap the early cars, the ECU is locked, only option is to replace the ECU with an Ekutec, Apexi, Gems etc or a Piggy back for the existing ECU. Speak to Jolly Green Monster He can give all the options and costs involved.
  11. give Jolly Green Monster a call, he is mobile and he has mapped the vast majority of Sureis Scoobies as well as a lot of the top cars in the uk. http://www.jollygreenmonster.com/ Tel 07912 872581

No idiotic driving on the roads surrounding the Fairmile 2. No damaging the Fairmile grass 3. No leaving litter/cans/pint glasses on the Fairmile grass 4. Do not partake in any other idiotic behaviour that gives Scoobies a bad name In addition we ask that only Japanese cars park on the grass please. 16. Bought some Bilt-Hamber auto-wheel cleaner and Bilt-Hamber auto snow foam from opie oils but the club discount didn't work :(
  17. Welcome to the club :D The waving is the Scooby wave, generally all Subaru impeza owners wave at each other, you also get the occasional wave from the Models of Subaru. Enjoy the car :)
  18. Welcome to the club. Don't imagine it would be that hard, I'll let some one with more experience help out.
  19. The fact they had to lift the engine to change the plugs show they know little about Scoobs. Any competent professional mechanic who knows scoobs would know, all you need to do is remove the washer tank and the air box to get access to the plugs. Ok it's a bit fiddliy but it's a lot less work than lifting the engine. In Future I'd steer :) well clear of them if were you.
  20. A cheaper option is to go for the NGK PFR7B cost around £45-£50 a set rather than £40 each. Gap to .7mm I had a similar issue on my classic and it was the coil packs. The plastic part inside the rubber bit had degraded and crumbled. You can get 2nd hand coils from ebay for around £40 each or £90 a set. Personally I would go to a reputable breaker like Pete at South East Imprezas 07891129485, I've used him in the past and he does a lot of business with my local club members. I would take your coil packs off the plugs and check them for damage, replace any that are and replace the plugs anyway. Well worth the cost and effort to do them all at the same time.
  21. The kit is £100 and you can choose what type of finish you want. http://mydipkit.co.uk/new-designs-available/ they do a cheeta print in the sates no reason why they couldn't get the same pattern here. Prob need to buy multiple sheets of pattern to do all 4 wheels.
  22. Pommy I have some nice shiny new ones you can have for £20 inc PnP
  23. I had this problem at Brands on a track day, got there and couldn't get the locking nut off as the key was mangeld. Everyone in the pits had a go and we even drove round a few of the local garages trying to get it off, no joy. When I got home I took it to a mates garage and they got it off with a combination of a cold chisle and the Irwin grip nut. Luckily the wheel was ok as it had a dished centre rather than a recess. Good luck with yours.
  24. contact the makers of the lock nuts, they should be able to provide a key. is there any paperwork for the lock nuts with the cars bumph? If not you may be able to get a Irwin grip nut on it to get it off. http://www.screwfix.com/p/irwin-bolt-grip-nut-remover-set-5-pieces/96028
  25. Looking good. Depends on what you want noise wise, a full decat is loud, and is a deeper sound. Also give you pops and bangs with occasional flames on over run. Also needs a friendly MOT tester to pass. Never had a sports cat my self so can't give an opinion on one. If you want to the decat route Scoobyworlds vortex range is good value for money. Or you can splash out on HKS super dagger or the Blitz Nur spec. Loads of stuff in between Milltec, Haywood and Scott, Revolution, Scorpion etc.
