  1. Don't bother to start it, once you've plugged them in just turn the key to the 2nd 'on' position you'll here the fans and relays cycle through the self test sequence. I did mine not long back and the sound of the clicking it makes was a lot quieter after i'd cleaned it.
  2. I fear matt's method of cleaning may be a little extreme, Plug in both sets of the diagnostic wires. Open bonnet remove hoses from top and bottom of boost solinoid spray brake cleaner into top hole and let it come out the bottom, keep spraying for ages and a rag is handy to catch all the **** that comes out the bottom. Re assemble and start car,
  3. That on a 'k' reg ? There's two near me found one today stripped out and caged and a green one somewhere I'll get some snaps

  11. Even if it's a new sponge every time ? And never actually touches the bucket ? My paintwork 's not the best anyway. Isn't the idea of shop to hold dirt particles in suspension in the Water,

  17. It had ridden up a little so I presume it's just worked loose either when I fitted the blanket or changed the coolant, thought there could have been a blockage hence why I want to take it off, just seems strange/ coincidental it's happened since the rad change. Am I right in thinking that the water is only fed into the turbo when running and it's not primed all the time ?
  18. Noticed the other day a smell of hot coolant, didn't think much of it as I spilt a bit on to of the block the other week and presumed it was still evaporating. Had a check yesterday and found this Don't think it's owt to do with the different coolant looks like the line had been disturbed. So cleaned it up and re seated it. Nothing has leaked since, if I remove the pipe from the turbo end to take a look for blockages is there anything I should be aware of ? Will it let much air into system
  19. Obviously changing that lot you'll need to drain all the coolant & refill which is bit time consuming. I'd maybe get the hoses and wait till it needs servicing. Also watch out for cheap Chinese silicone hoses on ebay.
  20. Looks like it's either an aftermarket boost controller or a part of the boost solinoid but looks the wrong shape. Top port should go towards turbo and bottom hose goes to the intake I think. Do you have a bigger picture showing the surrounding gubbins ? Edit.. Just found this pic of mine Boost solinoid in bottom of pic with round top and underneath is a denso unit that the pipe from the manifold runs from
  21. Thought I'd get cracking with sorting out my new alarm fob, armed with my newly aquired bitwriter i set about taking the centre console apart to work out where it plugs into the alarms brain After I'd got this far I found out there was already the communications interface attached left by alarm installer, chased it back to it's hidden location. Put the centre console back together. Plugged in and programmed fob. Programming took all of 5 mins and an official dealer wanted 75 notes robbing gits !
  22. Hi mate welcome, sounds like your going down all the avenues I'd be looking at to rectify the problem, i'd guess at the coils maybe with them being stone cold there's a break or back connection and once up to temp somethings expanded or warmed enough for it not to be an issue ? Just clutching at straws really. Have you checked the idle control valve ?
