Looks quite clean , what is the tyre size on those rims ? The side walls look bigger than normal and if so it might explain the soft ride you were complaining about in the other thread .
-
Get some Chinese coilovers, they'll make the handling harsh as fook

Guess a by pass will get it running again but I'd try to trace the fault and fix it , especially as it's blowing big fuses . I wouldn't try a different ecu yet either ,well not until it's fixed as you could end up frying a new ecu if the faults still there. -
I'm personally not a fan of slammed, cambered cars with stretched tyres . I'd be too worried about breaking something going into a corner too hard . But hey modding is all about making YOUR own mark on a car , so fill yer boots bud 😆 I've got this spoilerless pic of my classic when I was switching spoilers . Not excatly slammed n cambered but it had 17" rota boosts and elbaich springs

I bought a oversized (and over priced by the sounds of it lol ) k& n filter with a "easy to remove" nut on the bottom . Dunno if it the same 1 that you've found ,as it was about 4 yrs ago and about £15 P.s I forgot to mention that the only reason I bought it was because there was a load of fake or faulty subaru ones on the market at the time . The Mahle one's seem to work fine on mine but I do 4 k changes anyways

boost pipe popped off
savage bulldogs replied to stuartie's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Quite possible that overboost could bring up a pressure code but I'd imagine that the air density sensor vac line popping off would probably be the most likely culprit. -
boost pipe popped off
savage bulldogs replied to stuartie's topic in Subaru Engines, Exhausts and modifications
Don't know what the code is tbh ,you'll have to check the " fault code list " in the how 2 section. I can tell you that's the "air density sensor " which helps the ecu to calculate the amount of air flowing through the engine when the outside temps change . (Cold air is denser than hot air) . The blue vac line on yours does look fairly thick compared to the standard stuff , if it can easily be removed ,I'd either replace it for some with a smaller bore or put a cable tie around it to stop it popping off again [emoji6] -
Most of the small bore pipes in the bay are vac lines . Just check for perished bends or joins and if they've been replaced with aftermarket ones (normally coloured and not black) make sure if there bent they're not kinked or loose . Follow the pipework from air filter , through the turbo to the fmic pipework all the way to the throttle body. Check for pipes rubbing on the bodywork (which can wear holes ) cracks on the bends and that the joins ain't leaking . A clogged or poor quality air filter can "strangle " the air flow and cause hunting idle and lack of power . By "holding boost" I mean does it reach full boost and hold the same pressure . As if you've got a leak it might only show up under higher pressure causing the boost to tail off or not reach its peak pressure at all . I'm not to sure about the abs light as mines to old to have such luxury lol

Had a little squint around it at japshow, looks like you got yourself a bargain there bud , nice choice [emoji106]

I normally buy a Mahle oil filter from opie oils with my oil and sump plug washer .(Mahle make quality forged pistons so I assume they're capable of making a filter) I did try a k&n oil filter once but didn't see any difference in pressure or temps just cost me a extra tenner

Yeah yeah stants ,we all know that the hairdryer is left over from your previous cars oe toolkit ..... Cos all mx5 owners have them in the boot [emoji55] -
Unless you know someone local that has a classic running 4 pots on the front that would let you try 1 of your wheels on to see if the offset will clear them ? If you get rear 1 pot calipers and discs make sure they're for the vented rears .As the solid rear disc type calipers don't fit over the vented discs .
-
Forgot to ask what size rims your running, so good spot stants [emoji106]
-
You can buy seal kits oe refurbished calipers from the likes of godspeed for both front or rears (if budget and spanner skills allow) I upgraded the fronts with some second hand subaru 4 pots and the rears to newage pcd 100 discs and 2 pot rear calipers . As I said before the fronts just bolt on but the rears have to have conversion brackets and the splash guards removed in order for the 2 pot rears to just bolt on with the bigger dia discs . Have a word with Ian @ godspeed or Alyn @Asperformance about the rear conversion brackets if that's the route you take .

Well the old girl flew through its mot with only 1 advisory for the front droplinks [emoji2] Strange that guess I'd better tell the wife we need some new ones soon [emoji6] -
I assume that yours has the 2 pot fronts a single pot rears that come as standard on the v2 ? Most upgrade the fronts to 4 pots with bigger dia discs off the later classics or newage wrx's with pcd 100 discs .these are a Straight fit but I would recommend braided lines to firm up the peddle feel . Have you got vented or solid rear discs ?

Most scoobs are remapped for v power /momentum 99 Ron as it gives the best gains . Couple of things that would be worth looking at. .. Have you checked the vac lines ,intake pipework and fmic pipework for leaks ? Condition of air filter ? Does it hold boost ok ? Do you know how old or what condition the spark plugs are ? Icv is a good shout , it can be cleaned fairly easily with brake cleaner and a bit of wd to lubricate it afterwards. just make sure you buy a new oe gasket for your version for refitting it once done .
-
Is it your front or rear brakes that you want to replace ?
-
Yeah I'm glad I took si with me , always handy to have a detailer/ strong man competitor. .... just in case the scoob gets dirty or I get a flat tyre and can't be bothered to get the jack out . We certainly enjoyed the day and hopefully I'll get him to bring his forged v3 sti v limited to the next pod outing [emoji41] 0 to 252 in 5.3 I think that jet car did the 1/4 [emoji33] but yep I agree the day flew by just as quickly . Thanks for organising it pete [emoji106]

Lol that might as well be in Japanese cos I'm not too good with sparks . I'd probably follow the instructions (as your doing) only thing that sticks out in the pics is there's a bit on the page that says "with imoblizer "/ "without imoblizer " in the area your working in . So maybe try to trace if the imoblizer cuts the pump when active and if so where the oe imoblizer breaks the power . So you can maybe by pass it to take it out of the possible fault list . -

Scoob got proppa filthy on route to santa pod [emoji30] After my **** nav took me down a dirt track that resembled a harsh rally stage ,complete with water splash and jump over crests ffs . I blame Geoff [emoji39] As I think you jinxed me with your " sat nav's are great untill they take you down a dirt track at national speed limit " comment [emoji23] So today I be mostly..... jet washing the underneath of the car and trying to decide what "advisories" I want the mot tester to put on the scooby this afternoon [emoji15] last year rusty strutts = coilovers [emoji6] . It's got a slightly noisy wheel bearing but otherwise I don't think there's anything else that needs doing in the near future . .....I do fancy some new droplinks so i think I'll get him to add those to the advisory list too [emoji38] -
