  1. Your MAF sensor error - 500 seems rich! Have you tried cleaning it (contact spray cleaner)? Is it running a K&N filter?
  2. Looks way too good for the scrapyard. Should realise a few thou.
  3. The ABS light comes on with the check engine light purely as additional warning - does not mean the problem is with the ABS/brakes. Simply emphasize that a sensor is out of spec. Needs the codes to be read.
  4. Curious. Got any photos?
  5. Shift changes issue might be influenced by either low/or overfilled tranny fluid or the condition of it. Good fresh fluid might sort it. It also may be affected by the fault codes - the engine ecu talks to the tcu.
  6. @MrD You need to know the Legacy and the Outback are different cars. The OB has greater ground clearance and additional plastic body plastic panels underneath as well as the visible bits along door panels etc. while the Leggy is better suited for normal road work. Similar platform overall though. The v belt pulleys should be changed at 100k. Tensioner on this and the timing chain when a) the former is losing tension, and b) when the chain starts getting noisy (actually there are two timing chains) would need changing if symptoms emerge. Wheel bearings sometimes give problems around 100k and above. Otherwise, the motors generally don't give problems, the gap in service you mention wouldn't worry me unduly.
  7. Reasonably so except for it's thirst. Round town, don't get above 20mpg. The motors strong, chain drive so no timing belt to worry about. 5 speed auto box is very good. They are known for wheel bearings getting noisy and hard to diagnose, and the 2 pulleys on the v belts need changing before 100k. Very good long distance hauler.
  8. Registrations after March 2006 suffer higher road tax, circa £500pa. I cannot comment on the flappy paddles as mine doesn't have them but does have the sport-shift which I seldom use manually. The facelift ones get a single cd v the earlier 6cd changer with tape player, so not as good IMHO. Rn means navigation (satnav) - that's the only discernible difference I know of between the R and the Rn.
  9. Got a photo of the item? Checked tightness of the hose clamps?
  10. Blocking off pcv hoses isn't helping as the crankcase needs to breathe and with what you've done, I think this restriction could be affecting power delivery.
  11. Thats not a sunglasses holder is it?
  12. I'll try attach what I've got. Bear in mind it's for a UK 3.0 Outback. You'll be looking for section 3.22 or thereabouts. 2006 Subaru Legacy Owners Manual.pdf
  13. Not sure if this is what you want to hear, extract from my owners manual. What was the actual code? Fault codes don't as a rule go away by themselves, the seller/dealer shouldn't have fobbed you off. VDC extract.pdf
  14. Good job. Pity it's based on LHD cars.
  15. It should not need reprogramming.
  16. Integrated radios are usually paired with the ECM, so may need dealer help. Is this set the original for this car?
  17. Are the front drive shafts original? They should have green-coloured cups (nearest the diff) - if they are black or any colour other than green, they could be the problem.
  18. Pin Torx, also called a security Torx. Available in any good tool store, even Machine Mart.
  19. Obviously a code stored, some sensor is giving readings out of spec. Wouldn't surprise me if it's the DPF.
  20. It'll be as long as you want it to be!
  21. Results were excellent, would pass MOT flying colours.
  22. Took it for an emissions test, wanted to know if the cheapy eBay exhaust I bought and installed had compromised emissions. Went to the local Subaru agents, then an indy garage who did it for £10. Subaru workshop reception gave me a price of £64.90 - yes, you read that right - more than a full MOT, for just 10 minutes doing an emissions test!
  23. Aren't those cameras measuring speed by GPS? I'd call that claim about calibration - b*llsh1t!
