03 subaru impreza wrx sti hesitant in 2nd gear?.
The helicoil thread you replace it with will be stonger than the alloy originally stripped, just take you time and ensure everything is drilled and tapped square otherwise you will be putting uneven pressue on the repaired mount

Subaru Colour Codes

decat
TLag will probably be able to add some detail but removing the cat will provide less resistance to the exhaust flow out of the pipe so the turbo should spin up quicker. With that said you may not notice any difference doing that in isolation as having an improved air flow away from the engine helps when you improve the air flow in as well - things like induction kit / high flow filter. What would you like to achieve with your motor that means considering the removal of the cat?

Bugeye problem
Wotcha and welcome - as Stanton said a map for the new turbo would probably be the first step - you could also get it set to run mafless also did you skim the heads before reassembly as they may have warped through excessive heat when your engine let go - really strange you are repeatedly bending blades on the turbo?

problems with my 2006 wrx
if it was more serious than as gambit suggested it would produce more smoke more often. All the mods you have done sound spot on - I would just keep it in tyres and decent brake pads. Options for the future could be uprated calipers and discs and looking at chassis mods, suspension, anti roll bars etc

New wrx owner

Looking to buy help please Wrx sti 330s
The debate goes on - I contacted Subaru about the Type Uk when I was first buying mine due to all the different opinions, I was advised as Pete said it was a dealer STI fitted PPP upgrade and a model in its own right so insurance wasn't impacted as its a dealer car - This model is also referenced on the Subaru Impreza Wikipedia page Either way you are not getting a bad motor - the standard STI is easily upgraded, the 330s has all the good stuff plus some nice tweaks. Feedback I had from friends I let out in mine who had owned previous Imprezas was the steering was not as sharp, this has been sorted with the new Impreza but can be addressed with kits from people like Litchfield
