On later models there's a black cylinder with a square box coming off the side this has two screws and pull down tabs, that's where the filter should live, yours may be a bit different being earlier but I doubt it changed much

There's probably a space for a filter in the box but it may not be installed, have a look under the passenger side of the dash, there should be all the hivac unit there

Is that the 2nd one or the one that's on now ? Have you tried googling or ringing the people who's sticker is on the front ? Only other alternative is to open it up and see if it has an esl board inside

If the newer models are anything like the old ones the speaker set up is rubbish, does yours have the factory sub ? I'd have a look at upgrading the speaker components 1st then if all else fails the head unit
