  1. Loose or sticky brake pad ? Or it could be your "non wrx" causing a severe lack of "sweet looking foz sti "[emoji87] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  2. I might have a working coil pack and ht leads for the v3/v4 in the man cave I'll check when I get home If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  3. As far as I'm aware the 2.5 ltr crank is the same across the range . As I think there's only 1 type of nitraded crank listed when you use them in a 2ltr block (to make a 2.1 stroker). You could give the part numbers a cross check on import car parts website to be certain . in classic 2ltrs it's not the block type that distinguishes it's a sti (they change over the years /versions). It's the cams ,forged pistons /rods and headgaskets that are uprated but this could be different for the 2.5 as I'm not up to spec on newage If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  4. Something with v5/6 heads would be the easiest option (straight swap ) V1 to v4 are interchangeable as the inlet ports / stud pattern are the same (although the inlets look different ) .v5/v6 run a completely different phase 2 inlet manifold /fuel rail type which doesn't work with earlier or later inlets /head ports. I think you can buy phase adapters to make most inlets "mechanically" fit different engines but it can sometimes lead to loom splicing due to having different sensor plugs . So basically it's possible but using a engine with the same v5/v6 phase 2 heads would simplify things [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  5. Na they're still in the bag, cos it seems like far too much hassle to start pulling the back end to bits .especially as it's only done 85k and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it atm If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  6. Tried to remove (stant's) sti throttle peddle to complete the set ....... Cut my hand ,whacked my thumb with a club hammer and probably caught a cold [emoji35] So I gave up and I'm now currently drinking beer indoors and stealthily trying to buy a new header tank without the Mrs spotting me [emoji23] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  7. If its weak spark causing the misfire the newage coil pack conversion will sort it (much stronger spark). i don't know what the going rate is for the conversion as i just bought newage coils and soldered them myself . As for economy they might not have been able to trim the fuel on the dyno properly because of the misfire . Fingers crossed for tomorrow fella[emoji106] Sent from my SM-T230 using Tapatalk
  8. I haven't got anywhere dry to work, so it will be a bit weather permitting [emoji57] Hopefully not next weekend but the weekend after but i do still need to decide what pads to switch the current red stuff for and get some new bleed nipples /dust caps for the brembos There's a few people thinking about coilovers on here so I'll take a few pics and chuck em on my project thread when I do Email what email [emoji48]
  9. Did you disconnect the battery earth or just the positive side? It seems strange that it's happened after welding How do you know it's got fuel and have you done a ecu reset? Might be worth Checking that the big grey plugs at the ends of the engine loom and that the gearbox /inlet manifold earth's are ok . If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  10. Check cam and crank sensors haven't been unplugged by accident while disconnecting the battery. Check the fusible link ,it's a bit of wire with a spade connection on either end in the under bonnet fuse box .Although if this has blown it doesn't normally "crank" If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  11. If not import car parts sell em for about £ 30 [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  12. The meisterr zeta-r coilovers, extenders and anti corrosion spray [emoji4] Just gotta get home quick and delete the invoice from my p.c email account before the Mrs sees it [emoji39] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  13. Today I be mostly buying coilovers [emoji12] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  14. Hi n welcome , lovely looking classic you've got there [emoji41] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  15. Either that or shoot em a email and order the new bits then swap em over [emoji6] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  16. Yeah it's a friend of mine and I'll strip and prep it (hi build stone chips n minor dents) while he pulls the major dents out and paints the preface bonnet and 2 new front wings I spoke to them about refurbs and they do them in house but you can buy a single unit for about £125 . It's more corrosion around the threads that I've seen on 6 month bc's that I want to avoid If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  17. Did think about wrapping it but I need a few dents pulled and can probably get that done and full respray for about £1,200 . I do change my mind a lot, so things might take a different direction once I'm happy with the mechanicals [emoji39] How long have you had the zeta's Geoff? Any signs of wear or corrosion? If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  18. I don't wanna slam it and have to plan my route around missing speed bumps on the way .just a 40mm drop from a wrx or 10mm lower than a standard sti should do me nicely [emoji41] Probably should be keeping my cash for a respray but I'm bored and it's burning a hole in my pocket [emoji39] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  19. Yeah it should be just over £800 + delivery. They're still gonna cost me another £100 on top .... Cos I've gotta wine n dine the Mrs over the weekend to loosen the purse strings [emoji23] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  20. Mine had teins on it when my brv had it stants ..... too harsh for a daily driver imo plus if I end up with anymore "gauges" on my scoobs dash I don't think I'll be able to see lol This deal is available on the one's I'm eyeing up http://www.scoobynet.com/group-buys-439/1030876-meisterr-20-off-coilovers-group-buy.html £650 delivered for coilovers, rear dampener extenders and anti corrosion spray [emoji6] P.s thought I'd add I only found the deal while looking for feedback/ reviews . Haven't found a bad review yet and most say they're far better for road use that "crashy" b.c's due to the faster reaction from them when you hit a bump [emoji41] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  21. Spent most of the morning looking at the "buy it now" button .... Coilover or not too coilover that's the question [emoji39] If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  22. Yeah pre 96 cars have a old school mechanical cable to drive the speedo . It might have popped out either end but if it is faulty it has a upper an lower section with different part numbers Ticking noise could be a blowing upipe or downpipe join (They can be a pain to seal) How did you get on with the other issues? If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  23. The fronts just bolt on but I'm unsure about the rears If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  24. There's pro's n cons with both, I'm currently considering buying coilovers for my classic (mainly because I'm bored and partly because my rear arches have already been rolled ) Coilovers do give you more adjustment over the height and damper but I think most of them are aimed at track use, so are quite stiff even on a soft setting. Service wise coilovers do tend to cost a fair bit to get refurbished whereas with separate shocks, springs and top mounts you can just buy the individual part that's failed. If there's not a uk refurber, you could end up spending a fortune on shipping and waiting a long time to get coilovers back (so I'd bear that in mind when choosing a brand) I'm still undecided which way I'll go as I'm quite happy with the current handling and comfort the elbaich springs,oe shocks and group n top mounts give ..... But I do like the look of the meister zeta r coilovers as they seem to get good reviews and are aimed at mainly fast road rather than track (so hopefully they won't make my daily a tooth chipper ) If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
  25. Just a guess, the v3 has preface clocks (non digital readout with black faces) if the ecu you've got is for a v3 it would have the same plug type but not necessarily the same pinorder. Have you cross referenced the ecu code and the model code of the car as this might explain the posible difference in pins and the electrical symptoms. Otherwise check for breaks in the insulation in the car and engine loom. Especially around the grey plugs at the ends of the engine loom . I haven't seen a v4 key fob before and my v3 uk had the standard sigma alarm . What's the "laze line " if it's a aftermarket alarm have you got any paperwork for it If it's not broke .....upgrade it 😊
