  1. A rebuild (whilst being slightly more in cost upfront) will give you a known baseline and peace of mind - a replacement engine may let go as it will be an unknown
  2. All depends on how they have been maintained and how the engine has been treated. The way I look at it if buying a car with that mileage is completing an engine rebuild gives me a known baseline to move forward so it is a cost I would factor in.
  3. not had any issues with mine so far but always had issues with bonnet switch on other cars - would check that first
  4. Wotcha and welcome
  5. I dont know but I would guess you will be changing it along with the engine - but if you are going to the trouble of completing a reshell I would be doing a ground up job so you will have no problem with access etc plus good opportunity to get in there with underseal and waxoil products around seams etc
  6. take photos and label every connection - masking tape and a sharpie. Take your time and you will have no issues, take the opportunity to clean / beef up all the earth points / leads
  7. Didnt mind Toyo T1R's however went from them to Conti Sport Contacts and found they were better in the wet and quieter, now 3 sets in and still happy with them.
  8. Def priced to sell - was looking at these the other day - @Tidgy's fault, post some photos in the thread as you know we all love a bit of colour then it may catch the eye of some casual browsers
  9. Wotcha and welcome - feel free to get stuck in, stacks of info on the forum and plenty of members willing to contribute knowledge, advice and varying levels of drivel
  10. it was UK hawk type D 5 speed vs Blob STI and Hatch STI - if that helps???
  11. Have used 5 speed and 6 speed and whilst it felt 1st + 5th/6th in both was the same the ratios in between were closer on the 6 speed so it felt the engine was spinning up faster as it was easier to drive out of corners etc.
  12. There are a couple of winter tyre discussion threads with various views and opinions posted - might be worth a browse?
  13. Wotcha and welcome - must admit the blue over white look is growing on me
  14. Wotcha and welcome - quite a few Fozzie owners on here
  15. Wotcha and welcome - they do inspire confidence that is for sure
  16. Wotcha and welcome - looking good!
  17. made me chuckle!
  18. I dont know about the wheel base difference between fozzies and legacy / outbacks but the fozzies do have slightly better ground clearance over the outbacks but completely distracted now - looking at JDM twinscroll legacy imports with paddle shift and SI drive
  19. I have been keeping track of legacy / outbacks for all of your criteria - prefer the looks of the slightly older versions headlights example... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201609298238921?model=LEGACY&postcode=dy116bx&sort=price-asc&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&advertising-location=at_cars&make=SUBARU&radius=1500&page=3
  20. I wasn't planning a rebuild but was looking at an additional remap on top of the Prodrive flash it had received but I can say that each rev was used regularly and consistently in succession - none of the range were excluded
