G'day from Northern Australia
Wotcha and welcome - Plenty of experience on here unfortunately when related to diesels it is not good so unless your aviation experiments are related to parachute or ejector seats I might consider another solution. They suffer from several issues bearing failure etc. I do like the subaru brand but they do not do a good diesel solution unfortunately. But feel free to start a build thread and post questions etc

a few pics of my project so far
Somebody went home and kicked the dog 😁 The first but I am sure not the last 😉

Advice before buy
Wotcha and welcome - Unfortunately Subaru do not do a great diesel engine, bearing failures are a regular occurance due to gearbox / crank misaligment - I would look for a petrol option if possible

WRX STI Hatch - Project Dotty
Next up assembly of the twin injectors. Fuji Racing standard 550's as primaries, this should mean no lumpy idle or hesitation whilst driving at low revs. Injector Dynamics 1700's as the secondaries so on max chats we should be feeding with the flow capability of 2200's hmmm that isn't going to fit.... ahhhh so those red things are held on by the spring clip and can be removed (Thanks to Martyn @Enginetuner) Sad but I did like the look of the Radium finish with the four injectors visible 🙄

Agree with the OEM approach - maintain the stealth, the toucan is probably the way to go 👍

Cost for a new clutch and fitting?
Just had mine done - Exedy pink box and standard flywheel, billet oil separator & Piston Pin cover replacement (Fuji Racing) plus gearbox shaft & crank seals replaced which I supplied myself - they dropped the gearbox to do mine. £350 for labour and road test

WRX STI Hatch - Project Daphne
Fitted the cylinder 4 cooling mod, I used the ICP supplied Fuji Racing kit. The kit was no problem to fit other than the usual fight with spring clips that are too meaty for your fingers but are in a location where you fight to get a set of pliers 😆 Plug to be removed Replaced by adapter tube Pipe goes on Splice into matrix heater feed after cutting the pipe a little

WRX STI Hatch - Project Daphne
Again I found that there was movement of the wheel on the hub not anywhere near as bad as I found on the Silver hatch but non the less its a simple thing that it appears people get wrong - Spigot ring not the correct size The red one is the one that came with the car the grey is the replacement I got for the Silver hatch to correct that issue, only 1mm out but it means the wheel is not solid on the hub. I have ordered alloy items to replace the current plastic items

WRX STI Hatch - Project Daphne
Ok so after a few miles the oil leak was still there so I pulled the unit. Looks like the core seals have gone so off for a refurb

New to the forum and to Subarus
Wotcha and welcome - Do like the Blob wagons, best combination of wagon front and rear design, classic and hawk always looked a bit narrow and straight for the slightly rounded rear IMO 👍

New(ish) and a question kind of
as long as the outside circumference is the same as your 18's you are fine even though the wheel diameter is small for example: 205 50 16 205 45 17 205 40 18 So if you spare has a 16 inch wheel as long as it has a 50 profile and your 18's have a 40 the rolling radius will be the same so you can use it no problem without !Removed! up your diff - obviously it will struggle to cope with the power and they are stamped to say no more thank 60KM I think?

Today I drove a MY16 WRX STI home from the dealer
Very nice indeed

New(ish) and a question kind of
So the wheel itself is not broken just the mounting point in the boot?
-
New(ish) and a question kind of
What is wrong with the space saver you have as the wheel itself looks like the ones I have but you are holding a cone over it?
