mj_1985's Impreza Sport 2.0 Project Thread
Wotcha and welcome Matt - what a result - a right bargain and its got some styling modifications STI esq already completed. Def right place to stick a build thread - easier to keep track of your work all in one place. I would agree with the performance of the NA engine approach - filter and pipe + a decent service, oil, brake fluid, plugs etc to get it running spot on then if you still want to improve things look at power to weight ratio (ditch rear seats etc) and chassis improvements brakes, ARB's suspension

Upgrade to DCCD Widetrack model or bigger turbo?
I used to set the DCCD to minimum in the dry on my hatch when in sport# mode with VDC off as overall it felt more engaged and responsive to drive - so more about turning stuff off than distributing the power to the rear end

330s project stealth
Certainly will be looking for work completed when I go STI hatch route again

330s project stealth
Wow that really does take the mick - bearings on turbos needing a refresh at 60k fair enough but cracked housing is not good enough

Waste gate actuator
As above standard items are pretty simple affairs not normally the first thing to go - what are your symptoms? Here is a forge one for TD04 with stock spring or uprated as an option http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/Adjustable_Actuator_for_Subaru_TD04TD05_Turbochargers--product--50.html

Air Oil Separator ? Worth fitting ?
I will be considering the mishimoto kit when returning to boosted life - yes you pay a little more but they have a full kit for the hatch, brackets etc
-
Upgrade to DCCD Widetrack model or bigger turbo?
hmmm - given what you have invested already in your own motor - and you know what you have , peace of mind etc. Why not just get the bits that are missing, invest in the gearbox and wheels / spacers to give the girth? What I do not know if it is an sti / wrx comparison eg different calipers, bearings etc?? - if not as above

Swap ECu in GT 98 to 340hp

What have you done to your Subaru today ?
Discovered the waterpump on the RX has two pipes for coolant not the three on the replacement I was sent - blanking off the redundant pipe is not an option as the manifold is 'different' and it will get in the way You learn something new everyday...

Dump valve advice
I was looking at the forge option for my STI - for all the good reasons, sound (thanks youtube) build quality, it was a direct replacement for the existing one, you could have it as a recirc or VTA but also if I didn't like it I knew I could sell it on no problem because of it being designed to fit as a direct replacement no adapter plates or anything or issues with running / setup

newbie looking for assistance with buying...
Wotcha and welcome - what do you want to use the car for - the classic will will give a more rewarding drivers car experience but the newage motors are slightly more comfortable, 2.5 lumps in the later newage models give more torque lower in the rev range some have had the ringland failure and have had forged internals as a result. A standard car with a remap will apparently address the issue which causes it. You can get some nice imports for that money running a 2.0 twinscroll setup, just not as common. Either way keep us posted
