  1. It won't run the battery down over night. Mine doesn't seem to have any issues removing it. It pretty much the same as the older style scary connector. Maybe yours has a clip or something that locks it in and you need to press a small button to get it out? Pics of the reader in the connector would help also a pic of the odb you bought may shed some light.
  2. No they aren't reusable, the reusable ones are a foam type construction similar to mushroom filters and use a light machine oil to trap the particles, you can wash them out and then spray a light coat of oil back on them so they don't lose performance. The cosworth filter is a similar construction to the stock yellow fibre type. They use a much finer weave than the stock ones and have a larger surface area to improve the filters performance. They get gummed up over time and can't be washed out, so you have to replace them as part of the normal service routine.
  3. Welcome along, I'm on Surrey Scoobies as Krade :)
  4. Have you called Scoobyworld? They are very helpful.
  5. They are legal, I ran an afterburmer Vortex for years on my classic, they sound awsome and can easily top over 100db. The sound does get to you after awhile on a long journey. Turbo back will be much louder than a cat back as you are removing the cat which also acts as a muffler.
  6. Check out this thread as another GX owner asked a very similar question. http://uk.subaruownersclub.com/forums/topic/13366-air-intake-something-missing-here/
  7. That is a smart looking hatch!!!
  8. Looks like a good motor price is a bit high, they were that sort of price when I bought my type UK 2 years ago, but it's very low mileage so I guess that offsets the higher £'s
  9. Keep in mind a serviceable item and needs to be changed as per the service intervals. it will give a slight boost in performance. Ive been running one since my last service.
  10. i would say it will also be different pipe work underneath, mounting brackets will be different as well. I believe this is a WRX engine bay (according to google images.) This is my STI engine bay totally different...
  11. There's a list of breakers posted by gambit floating around somewhere. If you say gambit three times he should pop into the thread, he's a bit like Beetlejuice lol
  12. best bet would be Breakers such as http://www.japperformanceparts.co.uk/ and http://www.gradea-subaru.co.uk/ not seen many 2nd hand parts sold privately for the Hatches.
  13. You could get a remap to account for the BOV although £400 extra just to get a whoosh is a bit overkill imho.
  14. I'm not an expert on the non turbo cars however it looks like the air filter box, maf sensor and snorkel has been removed, the snorkel is not that important however the maf and filter is. I would guess that they swapped over to a mushroom type filter at some point and haven't replaced it. It should look like this if stock. The large black box houses the air filter, connected to the box is the MAF (mass air flow sensor) hen the pipe works to the engine. In this pic although it's a legacy it shows the mushroom/pod filter instead of the stock air box and pipe work. Hopefully one of the more techy minded guys can advise on the pros and cons of a maf delete
  15. Welcome along, Were a pretty friendly bunch here feel to ask any questions. I realise Yorkshire is huge but we do have quite a few members from that area and they arrange local meets its a good idea to pop along to one if your reasonably near by.
  16. I just sealant to waterproof the seams after they were welded at the factory. I had exactly the same in my classic, pretty sure my hatch has it aswell, haven't looked to close as the hatch has everything covered up. The tar like stuff is what they seal the gap between the plastic of the light cluster and the body.
  17. Taking a test drive 1st in a scoob can be a bad idea, your instantly mesmerised by the power and scooby grin. I reckon we should all put them on a rap 1st and have a good look before driving them lol. Congrats with the purchase glad your getting it sorted and it sounds like you've got a mechanic who knows what he's doing with scoobs.

  21. From what I rember TGs wasn't straight ringland failure, it was bottom end went.
  22. I can't really comment as I went from an 16 year old classic straight to Hatch so it's like chalk and cheese. Only thing I would say is go for the STI over the WRX, I so regretted not getting an STI when I got my classic. The STI is so much more car. I'll be happy to give you test drive in my hatch. Next Surrey meet is 12/04 but I dont know if I'll be there tbh.
  23. Not too sure about Gatwick way but tbh it's worth the trip to any of the below. Surrey Subaru specialist Camberly Very busy though need to book a month in advance. http://www.surreysubaruspecialists.com Len at Subaru for you Newbury http://www.subaru4you.co.uk he did my last clutch change but that was years ago on my classic. Stu at TFS Aldershot did my cam belt and a few other bits on classic http://www.tfsracing.co.uk James at GRD Chobham Village bought loads from him not had any work done by him but has a great rep http://www.greenwoodracing.co.uk I have used all 4 of them in the past, all have a great reputation and do work on a lot of the Surrey Scoobies owners club cars, and the Sussex owners club Surrey traders forum http://www.surreyscoobies.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=77 Sussex traders thread http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/vbulletinforum/forumdisplay.php?f=42 Get your self down to the Surrey Scoobies meet every 2nd Sunday of the month at the fairmile in cobham :)
