Sounds very much like headgasket failure.
Bad news is its a full rebuild job inc bottom end.
As far as if you can do it yourself, totaly up to you. however you need to be very careful with tolerances etc and needs to be done in a clean and dry envoronemnt.
Small update, poped up to clinic today. Engines out if the car ready for stripping.
First hit of bad news is i checked the turbo while i was up there and its got a crack in the housing.
Not sure what plan is for thay yet. Need to find out what report says when engine is stripped.
My warning radar has gone off like a train at that price, 5k with 110k miles on is the cheapest on trader so its a good £1500, very similar car is up at around £6k. Why is the car £2k under value? If there was nothing majorly wrong dealer would put it right and sell it for double the price.
i suspect its got with headgasket failure or using oil so dropped a ring land and dealer is trying to offload it
Small update, new suspension is great. Quieter in general, doesn't knock and rides better (less crashy and less bouncy).
Car has now gone for for a fettle on the engine, pretty much same basic spec as my type R,
Closed deck converted block
ACL Bearings
Manley Rods
Mahle Pistons
ARP headstuds
perrin inlet pipe
And then comes 1000 miles of torture lol
was a bit of discussion about this, seems more a case of he doesn't want the hassel that comes with alot of the early classics, aka alot of not very well looked after sheds that need mechanical issues sorted first.
tbh i cant blame him
just what software is used.
Opensource is well known to be based on hacked ecutek software from over the pond lol
Upisdes is no license fee, downside is no tech support and zero regulation of the software
