  1. one of those mods that some cars are fine with, some don't like and play up. You should be ok, but only way to tell is to get it checked out. It's always worth running the car on a dyno after any mods you do to make sure its not changed anything then you know its fine.
  2. depends what your plans are and what budget tbh. engine rebuild is going to be 4-5k at least, but if you plan to aim for 500bhp then will be more than that plus a whole heap of supporting mods. The 2.5 weakness is it doesn't have forged pistons so they are known to break ringlands and the headgaskets have a nasty habit of failing. It seems to be pot luck whether they fail or not.
  3. not 100% on him tbh, heard the odd bad story (which you will about most place, just tends to be how bad and what the basis on them is) but does seem to be one of the better ones. Very few people i would trust to map my car tbh Engine tuner, scoobyclinic, andy F and Pat H are prob the only ones.
  4. waste of money, ecu controls the boost ;)
  5. yeah, afraid so, the standard 2.5 isnt great and wont take much more than 350ish before it's at high risk of failure :(

NGK pfR6 for normal, pfr7 for tuned are the norm
  7. Im not gonna turn it into another long thread, but IMO (and alot of others), he's technically lacking in knowledge, has poor working practices and will leave you up the swanny if things go wrong, i'd sooner let a monkey have a go at it.
  8. If you plan on changing the turbo your basicly over the limit of the engine. mid 300's is about as good as it gets without playing roulet with it.

checked the spark plugs? also could be a lead/coil pack issue
  10. Mapping wise, Andy F is up north, Engine tuner down south, Scoobyclinic midlands. Very few places i'd trust to map mine.
  11. my advice, take it to someone who knows what they are doing.
  12. not sure exact month he got it to know which model year he has. shall see if he's heard anything
  13. hes gonna give the dealer a bell

  15. Are pedders doing the wagon setup yet? bear in mind it's not the same as the saloon. http://www.pedders.co.uk/subaru-impreza-gd-including-wrx-and-sti-sportsryder-ezifit-strut-lowering-kit_p28563173.htm#.Wladlqhl8uU 'NOT suitable for wagon models'
  16. is this affecting this years model? my dads is about 6 months old now
  17. hahaha yeah, mines in the £500 :(
  18. welcome, GT86 is pretty much a subaru anyway lol
  19. being an import will prob be in the lower band but your only talking £20 difference a month anyway so if its an issue then your gonna get a major shock with costs
  20. ah ok, fair do's
  21. they are basicly an sti but bigger, so go like stink, handel well, but MPG is great, need to make sure you rn it on Vpower or tesco 99 only. Tax wise being an import i'd take a a guess at £280 a year.
  22. WRX sedan MY95 Sept 1994 – Aug 1995 GC8C48D EJ20GDW4HD TY752VB3FA 260PS WRX sedan MY96 Sept 1995 – Aug 1996 GC8C48D EJ20GDW4HD TY752VB3FA 260PS WRX V-Limited sedan MY96 Oct 1995 – Aug 1996 GC8C48D EJ20GDW4HE TY752VB4AA 260PS 96 v-limited engine code according to that?
  23. isnt the engine code wrong for that?
  24. grats, what did the graph look like?
  25. sounds about right, flat 4 boxer is not an economical engine in any format. my mrs 2.0 sport gets similar MPG to my 2.5 hawk sti. my dads got a 4 month old XV and is lucky to get's over mid 30's per tank.
