330s Remap?
If you want the car checked out give http://www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk/ a call. He maps a lot of the Surrey Scoobies and South East Scoobies members cars. Very good reputation and he offers a mobile service. Although meeting at http://www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk is a good idea.

Air intake upgrade (plus a few other bits)
Welcome along. Didn't the later cars have 3 cats? Down pipe, centre and a small cat on the up pipe? As jay said, the cone filter will give you much more of a sucking noise it's a kind of constant gurgling noise that increases as you put your foot down. You can really only hear it with the windows open. The recirc doesn't really give any noise off in my experience, however something like an HKS bov will give you a great loud whoosh every time you come off boost and if you are running a full decat exhaust this will be accompanied by lots of pops and farts from the exhaust on over run. I had an HKS green mushroom induction kit, HKS bov, and a full stainless steel decat with a Scoobyworld Afterburner Vortex exhaust. More than enough to create all the gurgling, whooshing and popping you'll need. I drowned out a Mustang V8 at a car show once with that set up :D I was good for at least 108db. Also check out if there are any local meets, well worth popping to one to meet other like minded people, although I'm not sure if you'd want to like mined with Gambit, he's a bit of a nutter tbh :p

Surely Scoobies meet 10/11 2013.
Here's some pics from the meet. Not a bad turn out for the time of year, 15 cars by the time I left. Here's the pics I took, not the best though it was the wrong type of sunlight :( God I sound like South West Trains.

Drag Strip Tips
Might have been different event organisers, Santa pod may have said it was fine to run without slicks, but the event organisers said no.

Starting problem
I had similar issue with the battery draining, everything seemed fine with it, levels, recharge rates ect, it still would dump after about 2 weeks, then it only took about 15 mins on a smart charger to charge. I got a new battery and now no problems at all. I think the battery just didn't have the amps to start the car although the volts were there. Battery's do loose their mojo after time. If it were me, I'd bite the bullet replace the battery, I think it was £60ish quid from Europarts. Worth the money as it's cheaper than getting a specialist to check out the immobiliser side of things and it might fix the problem at least you'll have peace of mind that it deff isn't the battery.

Drag Strip Tips
Tbh I had my bust run at the pod when I was staging building revs, dumped the clutch and the car was in neutral Being pretty embarrassed I just put it in 1st gear gave it a some revs and pulled away like booting it from the lights. Did a 13.6 qtr mile. That was in my 95wrx years ago.

are jdm subaru imprezas better
The JDM classic wrx was a higher BHP than the uk version. Only draw back was getting parts and insurance. Also as most were 2nd cars from japan they had some tasty mods, still there were also a fair few tasteless mods as well. If I recall correctly, most of the early type R,s and STI's were imports, wasn't till the bug eye 300 type uk we really started getting decent UK cars, all there was uptill then was the P1 which was basically a type R fettled by Prodrive.

Surrey Scoobies Monthly Meet 13/10/13
Tbh it was a bit of a wash out, really bad weather so attendance what it normally was. It didn't help that we're not able to park on the grass, this meant no one saw the scoobs lined up and it didn't look like a meet was on. Three of waited around for about 45 mins that called it a day. Hopefully it won't rain so bad next month. They are every 2nd Sunday of the month.

New Boost Gauge
Looks great but would deffo change it to red. Did you pay full whack for the pod? I know from looking for a pod myself that is the expensive one

Pic of the hatch markings by the alternator on a closed deck block. Like most have said I would break the sport, fix the wrx and sell it, find a better car to buy, sport or Turbo. You can drive pretty economically just change gear before 3k rpm as the boost kicks in just after. If you are frugal with the boost it can be done, but it easier to buy the sport if you don't want the acceleration and fun that comes with the turbo.
