  1. Hi, I've had my XV coming up to 2 years now and decided to put some life back into it and add the same time upgrade. Aiming to give the car more off road capability, look badass but at the same time use as a daily and eventually road trips. first aim is to get new rims but someone mentioned to me, if I was to get a smaller rim it could throw off my speedometer when driving daily. I'm looking at 15" BLACK RHINO ARCHES (15x7, 15 positive offset & 5X100 bolt pattern) and adding 225/70R15 tyres. Not only cheaper but allows for more tire in the wheel arch. I'm not looking to lift it just yet. Stock rims and tyres are 17" XV Rims (17x7, 35 positive offset & 5x100 bolt pattern) with 225/55R17 tyres. Please could someone confirm where this would throw out my speedometer, if so any recommendations and anything else I might need to know? Also know any good places to buy the Rims I want? Cheapest I've found is £884 from LK Performance. Thank you!
  2. Is it me or are the brakes on the hawkeye 160bhp non turbo terrible? I literally feel they have zero stopping power. Now I'm aware clearly fluid, tryes, pads, discs all play a part in this however are they known for being a poor braking system on the hawkeye. Or is it my modle GD9 being a non turbo all having poor brakes. My classic WRX I had previously seemed to have a far greater stopping power. I have been looking at the GD9 brakes avaliable and looking at ebay it would appear STI WRX four pots and 2 pot calipers front and rears fit. Is this the case? If anyone has upgraded a non turbo braking system before any information would be greatly appricated. And I have looked already at the disc sizes for both systems (non turbo and wrx sti) they appear in my modle year to both be 266 and 277. Again any knowledge would be greatly appricated. Regards. Rich
  3. Hello people, the front brakes on my 2008 impreza rx are binding so I now want to upgrade them I believe they are 2 pot vented at the moment. From research I dont think sti ones won't fit but will the wrx 4 pot ones fit?? I've found wrx pro calipers and disks for about £250. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers
  4. Morning all, i have a 2009 WRX-S hatch running the standard VF52 turbo car is currently running a 3" Tomei, japspeed decat, Perrin 3 port solenoid, K&N typhoon air feed, mishimoto TMIC, HKS BOV, Custom map. NOT FORGED!! the car is making 280bhp and 350 Lb/ft torque but it is running out of poke after gear 3 Has anyone got any solid advice on decent turbo upgrades? Ideally direct bolt on? Fairly mechanically adept. Have looked at new pumps and injectors if needed but not looking to blow the engine. Would like to make around 330bhp safely. all advice welcome 😊👌👍 cheers
  5. So i have a 9inch K&N filter to go in thats going to fill double what the current filter does but I'm wanting to build a cold air system before i go for the next dyno run. Does anyone have any examples of a cold air system built on there classic pre facelift like mine. I have a few ideas but there isn't much room available.
  6. My standard header tank is looking pretty old and run down now so I'm upgrading I've seen a few different makes but Forge stands out to me as the top spec brand just out of interest am i purely paying for the brand and what header tanks is everyone else using?
  7. Hey Everyone, I'm Just wondering if anyone is able to tell me what the most recent ECU Software Version Number would be. Its a 2013 Diesel I have, not sure if all Diesel XVs would have the same ECU(?) Software. I've got an OBD2 Cable and the FreeSSM software so I should be able to plug in and check against what mine is, it would be good if we could get a list of the latest software for our cars, so we can check that the dealers are updating them as they should be. :)
  8. I am getting a used engine for a subaru impreza turbo 2000,1999. As I am getting my engine changed i will be upgrading my turbo to a vf 28 turbo and an STI top mount intercooler, my question is would it run fine without a map am i able to drive it as normal or do i HAVE to get a map? The person putting the engine in says it is fine and does not NEED a map any views and help.
  9. So I hopefully purchasing a 2003 WRX 2.0 this week and looking into modifications. I have noticed a few places offer performance packs which I assume is cheaper than slowly doing upgrades and means everything is nicely suited. So far I have seen: 1. Prodrive (which I believe is subaru or subaru approved) - includes stainless steel silencer, bigger intercooler pipe & remap, website states £1112 (not sure if that includes fitting). 2. Scooby world - widemouth performance 304 grade stainless steel de-cat downpipe supplied and professionally fitted, decat performance up-pipe 304 grade stainless steel supplied and professionally fitted, upipe to Turbo Exhaust Gasket, uppipe to Exhaust Manifold Exhaust Gasket, turbo to Downpipe Exhaust Gasket, High flow Performance Panel Filter supplied and professionally fitted, Custom EcuTek ECU Re-map on the road - £1200 fitted 3. Scooby clinic - Performance Package 1 Price (all prices are +VAT) 3" Stainless Full Exhaust System £595 Induction Kit £199 Uprated Fuel Pump £165 (fitted) ECUTEK Remap £550 Package deal price £1,500 So the question is which one is the best? Scoobyworld seems to offer the most extras for the money? Clinic includes an uprated fuel pump which I would think is an important upgrade? And prodrive is the approved? Anyone have these upgrades / experience of the companies? Any others I should look at? Thanks
  10. Hi all, Am new to the forum and have had my 2003 JDM WRX STI just under a week now and already want to start playing around with a few bits here and there. First of all can anyone recommend an upgrade for the air intake? I personally don't think much of K&N and am looking to replace everything right back to the inlet. Preferably sticking with something japanese so AEM, Apex-i etc. Links will be much appreciated! :) Secondly, I get a slight "dumping" noise when i let off the accelerator and was wondering if this would be heard more from the upgraded air intake? Replacing the OEM recirculating valve has crossed my mind but again not sure what subaru's respond better to, dump valves or wastegates. I do know that wastegates dont do the turbo much of a favour on any car that doesnt have a roller-bearing turbo though. Last of all, how many cat's are there in a standard STI exhaust system? I have been told there are two and that one has already been removed on my car but the noise doesnt seem to suggest so. even if it has, can i remove both and replace them with straight pipes? The car isnt loud, just has a nice burble and would quite like to keep it that way! Cheers Owen
